just curious, I know everybody is different.
I am just trying to measure what the norm is.
like is it possible make a stop every 5 hours to use like bathroom or even to stretch and wash face?

and don't go by 5 hour number, I have no clue what the experience drivers do. just guessing

    Sometimes a couple of hours.

Many times 6 hours. Sometimes 8 hours.

I stop when I need to.

Sitting for long periods at a time is bad for your health. Not urinating frequently enough is too. I will stop when I have to go. Period. Walk around, walk the dog, whatever. The day I have to drive straight through at the expense of my health is the day I quit.

Normally, I'll break the trip up into 3 legs with two 15-30 minute breaks. Works good for me and my bladder.

I'll go anywhere from 3-6 hrs depending on the schedule. Of course your bladder rules. DOT likes you to check your tires every 3 hours. I'm sure everybody does that. :)

You build up endurance over time. 650 miles seems like a long way in the beginning. When you start running longer distances, 650 is a piece of cake.

DOT does not have anything on the tire checks anymore.

Not that I disagree, but are you sure this is not a company policy or do you know the regs. If you know the reg, we can have it posted for those that are unsure.

that sounds great, at least for my beginning. 3hrs kinda a nice break. especially if it snowing.

now everytime you stop, is a full pre-trip inspection something required, or just like the critical stuff like tires, hoses, ...

Every time I stop, I do a walk around look at the truck and trailer before starting back out again.

3-6 hours is normaly when my bladder tells me to stop. Someday when I'm drinking a lot of caffine I can only go a couple hours, then sometimes I can go 10 hours....but those are not the norm. I think where I maybe differ from a lot of guys I've ran with is that I just take care of business then get back on the road. I try not to let a quick pee and refill take more then 5 minutes max.......unless like posted above, I'm purposely getting out to stretch my legs and maybe exercise (which I normaly do at either the beginning or end of the day).
