Millington now wants a CDL permit before going to the swift academy. My understanding is that it is a written test. What I cant seem to find out is if there is actually a DOT Physical needed before I show up to get the permit. Do they give you a card you take with you when you go take the test? Any ball park figures of how much dot physicals run?
Thanks !
Yes I know how to search BTW I did not see much pertaining to Permits.

My physical was $150.00 included the card it seems anything conected to a CDL costs lots of money! too bad the drivers wages dont

Wow $150 , well I guess at least its not something obscene like $300.

My physical cost $60. Call your recruiter and they should be able to give you a list of places nearby that do DOT physicals. As far as the test goes, I went in to my DMV and did the test then came back a few days later with the card and they issued a permit. I am in OR though so your state may be different.

I was told by the recruiter here in Phoenix it was going to cost around $150 for the physical and the permit. It ended up not costing me anything after I got done so I kept my mouth shut.

There's no use to even get your DOT physical before going to Millington ,unless your state requires you to in order to obtain your CDL permit,,,as you "WILL" get another DOT physical there at Millington your 1st day for Swift.
I had already paid to get my DOT physical "before" going to Millington (not required by my state DMV to obtain my CDL permit),and as it turns out,,it was a "WASTE" of my already dwindling money cause they didn't even look at it nor use it.
Bottom line,,check your state requirements on whether you need the DOT physical in order to obtain your permit (North Carolina does not require it).Only requires it for you to drive with a licensed CDL holder, which you will get for free at Millington,,save your cash,,you "WILL" need it before you get your 1st check from Swift. -
Wasted money....
sorry to hear that.
Everybody gets all the endorsements right away also, another waste of cash.
If you have the money, go for it.
Either way, if a company requires endorsements, they will usually give you time to add them on to your license........
