Not I.
Give me the space I need to be at ease.
Anyone close enough for an aerodynamic advantage is tailgating.
I will run trips with other drivers, but we keep 1/2 mile between trucks on open roads.
And any intimidation of four wheelers is sophomoric at best. The next time we have a public debate about a law concerning our industry do you think that four wheeler you "taught a lesson to" is gonna side with us? Childish gestures such as that do nothing to improve our image. If he needed to do 20 mph to feel safe be happy he didn't drive over his head flip the rig and keep you there for hours.
I am sure you and the rest of the children had good fun slapping each other on the back(or stroking each other) but all you did was reinforce a bad stereotype of drivers.

I don't like "convoys" anymore than I like the dirtbags on motorcycles who insist they must ride in a group. BUT if you have to drive 20 to feel safe, put you Kleenex boxes back on your feet and stay home! I get tired of hearing "Are you in a hurry?" because I choose to pass a line of steering wheel holders. I may not actually be in a hurry but I'm not going to be a lemming hitting my brakes every 10sec because the truck in front saw a bird. I see the same stupid crap in the winter. Icy roads and idiots refuse to pass, they feel it's safer to follow each other so if one hits their brakes the rest are screwed.
puncher, blackw900 and outerspacehillbilly Thank this. -
I was passing a whole line of truck that were bumper to bumper running the speed limit. I happen to be on a mission last night because my mom had to have surgery this morning. Well I get half way around them and there happens to be a bear setting in the dark. I just keep on rolling because he either was gonna get me or not at that point it was too late. After I passed them all and never slowed down they all started talking #### on the cb about me
. I guess they were mad that I was speeding and didn't get pulled over and they could only do the speed limit.

I just laughed and kept rolling.

I talk #### about you on the CB and even in person....But I've never personally seen you speeding!
outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
Oh yea no point giving it up at that point. But we've all seen the guys freak out and jam on the brakes and try to squeeze back over as if the cop didn't already see them.
-
I would expect nothing less from someone such as yourself!

Oh yeah, that only draws their attention to you even more and says PULL ME OVER I"M GUILTY! -
Well I hope that when this over you will run on down to the nearest police station and turn yourself in.

I never said a thing about passing anyone. I simply commented on the action of blowing the horn and the OP's delight of forcing the four wheeler to the shoulder. That behavior is juvenile, and detrimental to the industry.
Pass whomever you wish. Be prepared to accept the consequences of your actions.
But I would say that if someone hitting their brakes causes everyone in line to they are all to close to the truck in front. I prefer to back out of groups that are like that. I have no issue that requires me to be in front of anyone, ever. -
I pass anyone and everyone I wish. I own the truck(s), I make the rules.
You follow however you want but I have NEVER EVER been held up because of an accident that has happened behind me. I let the speed governed trucks follow each other like a parade. I get around them and keep to myself.Raiderfanatic and puncher Thank this. -
My advice would be to tell the next officer you see your feelings on who makes the rules. That would be the public through their lawmakers.
And I said pass whomever you wish, just be prepared to face the consequences. If you have to be in front of everyone though I have some really bad news. Your never going to pass them all
With the modern cowboys we have running the slab, I find it much easier to back out and let them find their accident on their own. I do not care who is in front because there isn't one a front that is. When you figure that out you might find less stress in my opinion.HoosierHunter Thanks this.
