Hi SoCal. I'm currently a student at Western Pacific truck school and am considering Gordon. I read your post about J Martin and am curious as to why I should avoid him as a recruiter. Any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks for your time. Karl.

When I started there, Jon Martin treated me very well and I had no problem with him at all. One of the problems I had there was the saftety dept always gave me crap about my log. If I told dispatch I coundn't do a run legally, they would give me the crapyest loads they could find for the next couple of weeks and rather than getting me home for the weekend, would strand me somewhere. They would also flip me back and forth between all dayers and all nighters, turning me into a driving zombie.

    keburmei Thanks this.

I haven't had that problem here but what i really don't like is they won't get a/c or APUs fixed over the road. Sunday night in Oak Grove MO my tripac sprung a fuel leak. it was a real simple fix- just a length of nylon tubing w/ compression fittings that took maybe 15 minutes to fix. had to fight w/ OTR for half-hour to get 'em to fix it (they finally did). then Monday in Kansas the truck's a/c compressor seized- fought 'em all day and ended up getting a load to Pacific WA for it. it was either that or Rancho by way of Phoenix----NO WAY!!!:biggrin_25513:

If you are going to school then there is no gap. You have a start date and finish date that can be checked by calling the school or submiting transcript.

The times you where not employed over 30 days just have to be accounted for, school records- unemployment check stubs- affidavits from people you know etc.. New drivers only need 3 years Commercial drivers need 10 years .

Many applications get j hooked into the trash because applicants don't show a continous history.

ronnieb67, you must be happy with GTI because you don't have Brain as a DM or Jordan as a planners, because they both have LMS, and love to degrade their drivers, they are great at arm chair trucking, but in the real world they couldn't make it, My husband drives for GTI, and I wished that I would never had pushed him to do this, because those two bad apples are making a bad name for the whole company, Jordan won't even let my husband transfer its like this feds his ego, thats so sad, but oh well what goes around.

I've had Brian and Jordan for over a year and they've been alright with me. they get me loads I can work with, don't push me, and when I know i can't on-time a load they're good about getting it repowered. They've never questioned me when I've said I don't have enough hours to deliver, and they always get me home when I request.

too funny.truck drivers with one year experience call each other "driver".
sounds like gordon all truck school graduates so they can compete with swift.
looks like they go 58 mile an hour when i pass em .it take long time to get around 48 states like that.

not all GTI drivers are right out of truck schools. We have lots w/ more experience and lots more who've been here 30+ years.

and not all of our trucks are 58mph. I pass Swift, PRIME, and Stevens all the time

EagelAce, it must be great to be you, because those two so called men are not that way with all of their drivers, just because they dont degrade you or intimidates you doesnt mean it doesn't happen, I know, they always try to count a day worked as a day of home time, WTF! So you just keep on rolling and be happy and thankful because of course this would to you, right. When Brain has been confronted face to face he tucks his tail, but when your miles away he a big man and its his way, no if and or buts, right wrong or indifferent, and he can't even drive a big rig, how sad is that. I have owned businesses myself and this is no way to treat a employee, but then I don't have LMS and have to feed my ego, and I believe that if it was not for the drivers, the food we eat, cars we drive, clothes we wear, etc we would have to do without, so I feel they should be treated with some respect, especially drivers who have perfect driving records like my husband and not to be talked down to because you can't do the job like Brian does.
