was wondering if someone could explain what is all involved on taking the oil filter base off of a bxs c15. was changing oil in it and now i cant get new oil filter on, tried putting old filter back and it wouldnt go all the way either. so im sure the threads on the base are messed up so im assuming the entire base has to be replaced to fix it. thanks in advance.

well to add some more information and questions. i ordered the stud for the filter just in case but i was wondering if the stud had some kind of non-threaded part to stop the filter threads since the filter has no non-threaded part. was discussing with someone and that came up, thinking maybe the stud loosened a little bit.

If the threads are damaged on the hollow stud the filter screws to, you can replace the stud instead of the whole oil filter base. The part number for the hollow stud should be 2P-4304, but you'll need to confirm that with your particular engine serial number.

do you happen to know how to get that stud out?

To get the stud out what I do is put a pair of vise grips, tight on the side, of the stud, then put on a, I use a Snap-on belt wrench, and take it out. the manual says to tighten to 60 lbs with thread locker on it.
