hey jim, they seem like a great company. i was in the hiring phase and it turned out there was an error on my MVR which halted that but i faxed my new MVR today and hope that fixes it. i'm finishing up school here in a bit and out of all the companies i've talked with they are definately who i want to go with... they told me this on the phone but forgot to write it down, what kind of transmissions are in the trucks? Is the splitter on the side or the front.? i think they said it was the ones with gears 1 and 2 in the same place 3 and 4..i have only been driiving one kind at school

I think you're confusing a Super Ten and a Straight Ten.
While I don't work for Crete/Shaffer, I seriously doubt they have Super Tens in their trucks.
Super Ten is what you started to describe demo video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_cUUOFiPFU
Straight Ten requires a "stick shift" for every gear
R - 2 - 4
1 - 3 - 5
*flip* (on the front)
R - 7 - 9
6 - 8 - 10 -
i know the recruiter said Eaton but not sure if straight or super. does eaton make both or just super 10?
-
thanks for the help, the video is great. i beleive they said eaton so i'm assuming they have super 10

Eaton Fuller makes straight 10s, super 10s, 8s, 13s, and 18s.
If I were the betting type I'd put my money on straight 10, not super 10 -
awesome, i've had a few more hurdles i've had to jump through with shaffer but hoping to get a call next week. i've been learning on a straight ten so i hope that's what they have. the straight 10 came to me though so i'm sure whatever happens i'll be ok. thanks for the input

thanks for the insight

I work for Shaffer and they watch you all the time. They audit your logs against the qual com and give you safety points if they do not match. There dispatch system can make it hard to get home,as you do not have one dispatcher you work with all the time. They break up the country into regions and each region has its own dispatcher,so they care more about moving there loads than getting a driver home that they do not know.
