I know a little as I submitted an application with them three months ago. You do a phone interview with your recruiter. Then the head recruiter will call you and give you a more in depth interview. The way they train from my understanding is you do 90% of the driving and their is no teaming or at least what the recruiter said. I would call and confirm this.
KHskipper Thanks this. -
So, drive for Squire first. You still make $$$, right? Not sure why Knight has this division.
skipper Thanks this. -
I think they separated out a training devision so that they could have dedicated dispatchers and planners for it.
That way the loads are dispatched with a trainee in mind.
Not a bad idea actually. Especially if the trainers do not drive much and it is really done as a solo operation during early training.
Then the first few months solo they continue under those dispatchers while the new driver gets use to planning and running.
I actually like the operating concept, if it is properly followed. They can put some of the most experienced planners and dispatchers on the fleet so that they will be knowledgeable enough to be able to really help new drivers.rookietrucker and skipper Thank this. -
Yes, the recruiter said no-teaming, I can deal with that. I read from another post they don't take u out west. I'm hoping this is not true, I would like to get with a company that takes me 48 states. I'm sure I will need the experience in winter weather, while I have help. Squire is just one of the many app I have put in. So if anyone know a decent company for beginners....I'm all ears...thankx for the responses.

The only thing that bothered me when speaking to the recruiter was knights idle policy of 10%.

I do not run down south a whole lot, so I only have an issue with idle in winter.
I have probably been below 15% the whole summer. What sucks is when the temps make it so that you really do not need to idle, but trucks around you are running.
Thus you have to idle, since the engines next to you are heating your cab up too much.
I think from a regulatory stand point this would be easy to fix.
They just have to make all idle tickets written to the company, and text in the reg saying that they cannot charge back to the driver.
This type of rule would eventually push the company's to add an idle alternative to the trucks, which they do not have now. -
I did the orientation for squire,
Your max speed is governed to 64MPH i think, and it drops to 62 mph after the 10% and i think 60MPH if your over 20%. Idle is above 72' and below 29'.
My trainer did alot of idling over the summer and his max speed was never under 62MPH, so perhaps it isn't written in stone. The Challenger Thanks this.
