sounds like he is just being smart and making his own decision about when to move over, as opposed to just moving back based on someone else's judgement. I was in a truck last week with a guy who would signal another driver before he was clear of our own truck.....the trailer tandems weren't even past our front bumper yet and the guy was signaling the other trucks that they were clear.

No high's are a must! Most annoying thing, its bad enough avoiding poorly aimed headlight blasting you from the left side mirror.
Correct parking is also needed, dunno how many times I've came #### close to bumping someone's trailer because of that(actually did the other day, at least he wasn't in his truck or just didn't care). -
So do you mean to tell me that I have to toss my full wardrobe?
Injun is one of the few Women from this forum worth "Staring" at
I admit.... I did!!!
Somedays I just wanna be topless
We are special all right. Real special!!!!
Correct
Hey Mustang Screwball.... Read what I said again!! It didn't say that I don't flash my trailer lights when someone "Properly" gives me the clearance to move back over. It says that I will not move over unless I can see you in my mirror. It is called creating a proper following distance or a safety cushion.
If you turn your lights on & then back off to allow me over, that's cool & I will hit my trailer interupt switch to thank you. So what if it takes me an addition truck length down the road to move over?
But I will publicly say that if you flash your bright lights (like I presume that you do) you won't get a thanks from me... You won't get nothing from me. In fact that is normally when I start cussing your unproffesional steering wheel ### for blinding the #### out of me. I'd prefer to see your fog lights instead of your bright lights. -
AGREED!!!!!

i always wait until they put a blinker on, i kind of figure its their way of asking/saying "hey i'm comin in your lane" and then i flick the high beams twice, but i do it very quickly. usually they follow up with the thank you hazards. if they just merge back into my lane i wont flash them at all. granted we all know where our trucks are, its just a kind gesture to flash someone, use your lights, thank yous etc... "hey i see you, yup, you're good to go". gives trucking more of a community feeling. it always pisses me off when someone goes by me and merges with 30 feet in front with out any blinkers.
if i know it'll take me more then a few truck lengths to pass someone i dont even bother, i just fall back a few. its not gonna make that much of a difference, but if i approach a truck/car fast then i'll be passing them. -
i didn't drive a semi yet but I find this very important.
when there is a lot of rain or slush on the road, don't blast the people waiting at a bus stop. that slush can really hurt somebody.
and I wish I would of caught that person who decided to cut into slush in the middle and blasted me while I left my window little open for air. -
Please don't make presumptions about me, young truck driver.
You are obviously taking this stuff way too seriously. Settle down big fella.
All this talk about passing folks and fog lights and whatnot seems to have you all het up. -
If you have parked for the evening and you see another driving struggling to back into a space......PLEASE GET DOWN OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE AND SPOT HIM/HER...you never know when you need that same assistance
Rumblestrip, l<enny and Milwaukee City Thank this. -
That is one long paragraph.chompi Thanks this.

A nod or a wave is fine. Back in the day, it used to happen almost all the time. Now, if it happens, it is a reminder of the collegiality - We are all in this together, have a safe trip and a good day.
