Stranger hit it right on the head! I did recovery once. Well actually we flew out to pick-up a truck and it was so bad we refused to drive it back. I don't know if someone ransacked on purpose or what. A lot of those drivers get pee'd off at the companies when they quit so they destroy their trucks. The only other bad thing about recovery is you have to carry your stuff around with you everywhere. It's like living like a gypsy. If you can manage just be a company driver. As you driving for England make sure to be filling out other job apps. every day! If England decides they want to ruin your DAC in 6 months then you spent all that time there for nothing. Do try to stay positive and do your job correctly while you are there. At least they are giving you the opportunity to drive. Hang in there learn the business after a couple of years go buy yourself the truck of your dreams and be an owner operator! Start studying!

from talking with a "recovery driver" from a company, many times you are bussed to the area.....you would be "lucky" to get a ride from a company driver. its usually a one man operation. and yeah, you do get to go into some neighborhoods you only wish you had a "piece" with you. given the CSA2010, i think you would be right, even a recovery man would be driving that rig on the roads, so his arse had better be covered, but i don't believe there will be any "waivers" to allow special treatment either. best to "send the hook" for such recoveries......IMHO

Wait. You mean the ONLY way to get a truck after training with England is to do recovery or lease? All their company trucks are assigned & you have to wait for someone to jump ship to get a truck???

in that case, it'll be about half a day.......LOL........

You gonna be here a LONG time if YRC goes belly up, driver. Most of us have done local work for years.

Okay.. so you want to know if you should lease OR get a job getting all the lease trucks that other drivers have abandoned...
I understand that CR will almost FORCE you to lease... or make you wait up to 6 months before a seat opens up... and you are still on the hook for your training. Why did this seem to be a good deal for you when you signed up? -
