    been away from the computer for awhile when u train sometimes its hard to get the time to sit down and get online.been running fairly hard,not up to my usual standards but not bad.just picked up a tyson load in cumming,ga. love that name,lol.headed to cali in three days,good load.tyson actually loaded me in less than four hrs. couldnt believe it.if any of u new guys have questions about tyraining send them my way,will answer when i can

    Hey everyone. Have not been able to post mainly due to increased driving time and poor internet connections. I have been in Cali this past week but now type to you from Munster, IN. Picking up a load tonight and headed for El Paso, TX. I have crossed 4 major mountains and am 730 miles short of the 8,500 requirement. This coming Wednesday will be my 35th day on the road.

    For those that are coming up behind me I want you to know that I have no regrets about coming to Stevens and certainly have no regrets about becoming a professional truck driver. This past month has been a wonderful experience. Yes it has been challenging at times and it is not easy living another person in this small space but my trainer is very professional and Steven's has kept us running pretty much non stop so there really is not any time of us to irritate each other.

    As soon as we are done working I get out of the truck and make myself scarce. When I come back I hit the rack and wake up and do what I really love to do and that is drive. I got into a rythm with the training and the driving some time ago. I actually lost track of time. My counselor told me I had 6 days left when I last spoke to him. I was suprised as I had stopped counting days a long time ago.

    I noticed that there has been some discussion on survival methods when OTR. Definately have water on board and drink it. I have not had much trouble keeping fruit handy and I also like trail mix for snacking. Keeping a head of lettuce in the fridge jazzes up sandwiches which are always available. Do not know why anybody buys at Subway when you can go to Walmart and buy enough sandwich supplies to last you a couple of weeks. I will admit that I have indulged in pizza at the Flying J. Two big slices for 5 bucks, best deal out there.

    I do walk around as much as possible and I find time to do push ups (in the shower). I will be able to do more exercise and eat better once I have my own truck. My trainer does not eat much or eat well in my opinion so I have had to work around him in that department. One more thing, you do not have to eat as much food as you think you do. You body will get used to skipping a meal or eating small portions.

    Expect to be back in the yard for Orientation 2 starting on Monday the 25th. Be safe yall.

    Well ... got to the bus station to head to training this morning only to find out that Stevens bought my ticket leaving from SC instead of NC. Now Im screwed. Of course the recruiting dept is closed on Saturdays :(

    Good to see more new folks! Nothing new with me. Enjoying the weekend down. Been watching the trees turn colors! So pretty this time of year!
    Looks like I'll make that 11k miles this month.
    Probably post again later, but now time to catch up on emails!

    In Amarillo tonight. Waiting to get into the shop for a level 2 PM. Wish they could give me a rough idea when. Looks like I've run a bit over 21,000 miles in the last 7 weeks.
    Off to Terrell tomorrow and a monday morning delivery.
    Corporal...couldn't the bus company just transfer your ticket to your station?

    Finished my 3 dropper this morning in Hickory NC. The last three trailers i have had have all needed tires. I work them into my run, stopping at a TA in the early afternoon. This trailer had 2 recaps starting to separate. Oh well more points on my TA card.

    I had told my DM that I needed to be routed to the yard... been out almost 90 days... Well today, I had a preplan, but nobody could get me dispatched onto the load. Finally called safety to confirm my thoughts, yep I was on Safety Hold. Got that taken care of, although he was not happy with the load I have, does not get me to the yard.

    So here I am tonight at the lovely fresh smelling Smithfield plant. Load ready, of course not. A 10 hour break again.... then a short 550 mile run, for a monday o dark 30 delivery.

    then dispatch can figure out how to get me to the yard, from the southern middle of no where alabama.

    I was wondering the same thing on the bus ticket.

    Smokr, all work and play, with no posts makes for a boring thread.

    sitting in alburqurque,750 mile day ahead manana for me and my co-driver,trying to set him up for his two major mountains.union pass and cajon,couple of good tests for him should be fun.be sitting in ontario watching the lot lizards tomorrow night waiting on a/m delivery at costco monday morn.

    no, greyhound couldn't let me change it cause I wasn't the purchaser. I did finally get someone at Stevens that could fix it. a nice guy named Wayne. I'm now 3 hours into my 29 hour bus ride. Thanks Wayne !!

    Aren't the lot lizards at either Ontario or Gary, IN part of the training requirements for O-1 students? :biggrin_2555:

    I think the lot lizards are optional now. Most students can't afford them anyway. lol
    I had a pretty normal and typical week. Not a thing happened really worth noting other than a late pickup because the bakery in Chicago was running behind, which caused the delivery to be moved to Monday instead of Friday night. I dropped that on the local yard and picked up my next order.
    The good thing about this fleet is the preplans. You usually have two or three days planned ahead, so you know what your schedule will be. Or close to it anyway, lol.
