We have a pour way down some bush road next week. My boss suggested I bring my .30-06 with me and if I see a moose (on my way back) I can shoot it. Said it would be no problem to quarter it up and strap it to the fenders of the mixer.

Other than that I have no real reason to carry a firearm in the truck.

Handgunlaw.us has a map feature where you can find what states honor your permit. Also has a law section to tell you where you can and can't carry in each of those states.

Just pointing out that there are places you cannot carry the weapon.

It includes property not owned by you such as the truck when a company driver.

It includes property you may enter to deliver or pick up loads.

    It includes crossing borders.

As far as carrying a gun, it is up to the individual. Personally do not see the need.

Was just wondering if the DOT allows drivers to carry firearms (Of course with a permit). Is there a DOT regulation forbidding it or are there company policies that do not allow it.

Nothing in DOT. But state laws and company rules prevent us from carrying a gun.

That's why we should carry. To protect ourselves from the unstable ones.
