*howls out to his dragon bro in support*
My many thanks to everyone who's been giving such awesome words of support to my bud & bro. I've known Dragon going on a decade and a half now, and I know how much his heart is in this.
And Dragon -- fine, I joined, just so I could howl out to you and track this thread and toss in my two cents of support too.
You're doing awesome bro. Keep on truck'n.
(PS: Be sure to study for your next whizzquiz like you did last time... *rofls*)

TruckerDragon Thanks this. -
Back from the yard. I got pics but gotta get them off the camera so ill upload them later tonight. Did pretrip and such, and while we woulda started coupling and uncoupling today we have a lady in our calss who constantly jokes, horses around , talks etc, and makes it hard for instructors to continue, I snapped at her today because, well im paying good money for this and I wanna learn not listen to her.
Im all for questions, no stupid questions and all that, but I demand the questions be atleast relevent. And when the instructor says "Lemme get through this" you shut the fudge up.
But, tomarrow we pair off I think and I refuse to go with her group so it should be better.
Thank you for all of your support guys, and thank you for coming to join the fray LR, Means worlds to me, but you know that already. -
Thanks for the update TDragon. Seems like there's always a joker in every crowd. That would probably drive me crazy too. Like you said, don't pair off with her, that would really be nasty.
Pre-trip stuff was pretty interesting though wasn't it? Get to know as much as you can about these trucks. Your life depends on it. The more you learn, the more confident you'll be.
Looking forward to the pictures too. Take care bud...JustSonny Thanks this. -
Hey, you know I been tracking this for a few days, attaching an account to it so I could reply is nothing.

Besides, some of these folks are crazy as bats and I fit right on in.

Update time!
Alright today:
Listend to and watched video on Trucks Vs. Trains.
Long story short: Trains win.
Practiced pre-tripping, only missed a few things, think I got outside of truck nailed down fairly well, insdie the cab, thats a bit more complex.
Then we practiced coupling and uncoupling, and I got to drive for the first time all of 5 feet, and I managed to take about 50 miles worth of rubber off. Note to self, brake AND clutch in....do not spin the instructors BRAND new tires...he gets pissed off
Second time, he said I did REALLY good...
Tomarrow is the written for permit, i have attached pictures of my first drivers log book entry, and some pictures of the yard.
Then after Permit, its coupling and backing and pretrips more, and if I have my permit I go on the road (Oh dear god)
Gotta remember, trailer attached = Red in, always, always, always, and yellow knob is: "In go, out whoa."
All the dials are #### confusing too!
Going to practice y air brakes stuff now, I got only 1 or 2 wrong on my combi pretest, and 15 out of 140 on my general knowledge...
Thanks for the support guys.
Not as many watchers for swift driver threads it seems

Alright, I was waiting to give any advice until after I found out you'd started pre-trip. It's simple. There are only 107 items on the truck that you need to talk about (according to USDOT). On the outside, everything is either NOT cracked, bent, broken, dented, leaking, shifted, torn, or frayed. And it IS mounted securely with no loose or missing bolts or clamps, whichever is warranted for that particular part. Make sure you mention what color the lights are and that they are in good working order. Amber to the front, red to the rear. DOT reflective tape can be no higher than 60" off the ground and no lower than 15" off the ground. When you do your in-cab, read your gauges. They're self-explanitory. The oil pressure gauge tells you what your oil pressure is. The air pressure gauges tell you how much air you've got in your primary and secondary tanks. Water temp gauge....what temperature your water is. Easy peasy. You must have AT LEAST 100psi before starting your brake tests (and before you move the truck). And remember this for part of your in-cab: Cold rainy night. Cold=defroster and heater, rainy=windshield/windshield wipers, washer fluid, and night=dash panel lights.
I got to where I could pre-trip a truck in 35 minutes from bumper to ICC. It's only as hard as you make it. I know I gave you a lot of information, but after a couple more weeks, it'll make sense to you. I wish I could physically show you how to pre-trip. I've got a system, but it's easier to SHOW than it is to explain. Everything I said in the last paragraph was off the top of my head. Where I went to school, they drilled pre-trip in our heads for an hour EVERY morning. It got to be second nature.
If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me and I'll give you my cell phone number. I'll be more than glad to help any way I can. Gears, you can have the digits too, but I know you'll call just to shoot the breeze, unless you want me to tell you how to pre-trip your own truck.

CRTrucker Thanks this. -
Pretrip like you read a book:
Top to bottom, left to right, inside to out. Touch EVERYTHING your brain will kick you and say 'talk about this!'CarolinaCatJack Thanks this.
