(1) Blackrock, Ponypack, or Tri-pak? (2)Did ya open the valves?
(3) In the Volvos with ponypacks, the front fan selector cannot be all the way to the left (off), or the APU A/C compressor won't kick in. It's just a quirk in the way Helena wired the manuals.

Firstly, this posting is just for WKSH drivers concerning a bonus program the company has been running each year for staying out over the holidays. And in fairness to the company, the details of last years program were clearly written and distributed, and to the best of my knowledge the company lived up to each and every commitment they made. What this post is about is strictly concerning the terms of that bonus program as relates to this year - and since that program has not yet been announced, this all could be moot. We shall see . . . .
If y'all remember last years holiday bonus program, WKSH offered a pretty substantial bonus to stay out over the holidays, but unlike prior years there was a minimum mileage requirement to make the full bonus. Because of light freight loads, many drivers didn't make the full bonus and were paid instead a substantially smaller bonus for being out over xmas and new years weeks.
SO, for this year, I decided to accept the bonus offer to stay out thru Xmas and New Years IFF (If and only If) there is NO mileage minimum attached. It's not that I couldn't use the money, but rather a point of principle - my time has value, and it's available for company use - but I expect to be paid for it, whether there is freight available or not. If there's a mileage issue for that month, then management needs to take that up with those in whose hands the control lies - sales and dispatch. And if my time isn't worth the extra few bucks, I'll spend the time home with the family.
(Wow, as I'm writing this I just realized that since last New Years, the only major complaint I have about WKSH is in the administration of their bonus programs. Not bad for a trucking company, huh?)Last edited: Oct 21, 2010

too true...i was planning to do it but they failed to mention the mileage thing. funny how details like that get left out.
anyway i dont even know what apu i have its not the blackrock. is the big ol diamond plated box thing if that helps. never opened up but ive been meaning to look at it and make sure everything full. a/c works brilliantly with auto mode and all, heat is the issue. but im down south so i dont have to worry about freezing tonight woohoo! -
big old diamond plate is a blackrock. go outside and look at it, describe what it says on that box... but im betting its a blackrock...

Sounds like a Blackrock to me, and I had this very same problem with mine last year. What you need to do is follow the wiring and hoses out of the APU up to where they enter the sleeper under the passenger side, above and behind the fuel tank. There you'll find a valve with a handle, and all you need to do is turn it. That valve has to be manually turned twice a year, in spring and fall, when your temperature needs change.

it is a blackrock, i didnt think it was because i have seen others that were smaller and looked totally different. and it doesnt say anywhere on the outside. but thanks, big help.
