Looking to purchase a new radio and I can't decide between the Connex 4300 300 or the Galaxy DX98VHP. Any suggestions??

I own a galaxy 95t, I would not give you 10 bucks for another Galaxy. Do not own a Connexx so I dont know about them. I do own a Ranger and it has operated without fail since 2000. Just my 2 cents.

The 98vhp has sideband, and it looks better. A friend of mine has one and it sounds real good on the air.

I have near every Galaxy made the last several years(33-95T) and wouldnt give a nickle for the next offering from them. The 66 wasn't bad,nor was the 88,99 so-so . . . . .
But DONE I am with Galaxy.

Connex is a better choice for blowing coin on,43/300 ain't a bad rig
just not "bad enough" for the asking coin.

Unless you plan on doing alot of SSB or similar, why spend the coin just to hang a 10 meter in your truck.

I guess my last post wasnt true.I give $100 for it so it wasnt a bad deal.

Guy needed coin so I bought his radio to help him get back home, bet I can get $200 for it before I get to Dallas:biggrin_25523:

Loved my 4300-300 but then someone else wanted it more then I did and stole it along with a few other things.

I loved the power it had, I don't care for sideband because I don't use it and the guys I run with do not have sideband rigs anyway.

My regular supplier doesn't have any 4300-300s. He only has the 98 VHP. I am at a turn in the road and not sure which way to go. Go to another radio guy that is not as well known for his setups and get another 4300-300 or go with my regular guy and get a 98VHP.

If your for a 10 meter radio, I would check out the Magnum's . I have an old Galaxy Pluto converted to an 88, and had new finals/amp installed on back of it which made a 100 watt. It was the best thing I ever did, always get compliments on how strong and clarity it has. I have a Turner 56 mic and Wilson 1000 with it. If I ever get another radio Im thinking bout the Magnum's series cause they have the amps built in them up to 250 watts that I've seen but I believe some put out more.
