This is *WHY* one must not "Blend" Amateur Radio with "CB"

Well, Guess no one in the Dallas area gets on 10 Meter..."CB'ers or Ham's either one! All day today while out running my machines I kept scanning all the frequency's above 27.405 to the 29.000's, and only found one person talking, and that was some Mexican I think on 27.335 LSB...(I could be wrong about the Freq. but it was in that general area)

So. I'm thinking maybe this is just a local problem, and not so much a Global deal like the way it was described earlier...

 

When the band is open..... we hear them sometimes they are local.

And No I'm not blaming all Cbers much of this is a lack of understanding what these EXTRA frequencies are .......

10 will get very active when its open our net on Tues 7pm eastern 28.450 mhz sometimes gets checkins from 3,000 miles away

I worked moonbounce with push-pull 4cx250b's a 15000 watt tube is nuts ...

 

As for this region of Oregon~the shower me state, there's so little traffic on 11 meter that there plenty of room to talk, tell tales and and so forth within this band. So I see no need for 'non-hackers' to use 10 meter, at least around these parts in my humble opinion.

Very volatile and interesting forum.
Seems all the dander is raised over 10M freebanding up and down.
I read 7 pages and then jumped to the end.

I came looking for info on getting a Hot 11M.
(And um.... I am a HAM w/ Yaesu 8800)

I run off road and in the mountains and everyone in the pack uses a legit CB. Well my little Cobra 75 just toasted itself, so I went looking. Gee this 10M conversion thing looks good, but since anyone I would ever want to talk to is on 11M that's all I would use.

Just want more TX power in the mountains. I realize that I wouldn't pick up a low power (legit) radio out of range. But TX is especially important to me after this past summer.

I was 11,000 ft up on a trail (Imogene Pass) between Ouray and Telluride when my T-case ate it. At that time, I wanted more power. There were 300 FJ' Cruiser below me in Ouray.

So a subjective question to the DX'rs. Does a hot 11M bring you or others interference? Yes, 4W is legal and I want 90W. Will I be tracked down like a rabid dog if I transmit will rolling down a highway or byway maintained by our collective tax dollars.

If I'm in the back country I might not be heard. If I'm at 11K over Telluride then, if I'm causing a HAM freq problem, I'll PO hams in both Telluride and Ouray. But I do need to be heard.

Bottom line, if I'm only a minor nuisance and am I'm only occasionally breaking the law from the comfort and luxury of my off roader, Will I get caught?

I use my radios so infrequently I have to read the instruction every time.
Probable need a SAT phone.

FYI, me and one of my buds use 10m on the Connex 3300 for com across distance but only as needed. The NASA-ites get tight when we're near the dome and the Vietnamese get tight near the coast. We use AM or FM depending on area traffic....bleed is bad to the point that a NASA-ite was able to follow use as we moved around....... a mobile beach for sure.

We try to run barefoot as much as possible so as to be good boys but sometimes.... well you just can't.

 

You have no rights on 10 meters ... and FM is not legal on 10 below 29 mhz

A few years back there was a craze to use marine radios for hunting and in RV's the coast guard was not amused
