Oh Crap you're right. Sorry about that. It's been a f'd up past week.
That's the one thing I do really enjoy is meeting everyone. Just wish I had more time to hang out when we do. But gotta get those miles.

Thanks guys for the support. It's much appreciated. I am climbing over product now to ck and add straps to the bulk heads.
That was the worse feeling and don't want to deal with that ever again.
Again just glad no one was hurt and no damage to the truck or car.
Stay safe out there.
F$&# it's cold in Richfield this morning.Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
It was also good meeting youin Trenton. I just wish I had more time to talk. But I think you did the right thing with the load. My biggest fear is someone pulling out in front of me. I would rather blow the bulkhead and damage product, than risk hitting someone and killing them. It is a fine line to walk pulling some of these loads. Well stay warm, tis the season. See you on the road soon.

Sully that sounds like excellent advice. Baritone, glad to hear you made it through that close call safely. Be safe both of you.
-
Glad your OK and didn't hit anything. I expect you will forfeit your bonus and they will call it preventable. It is very rare that they don't consider something preventable. The main thing is that you didn't hit the other vehicle. That may have been a career ender but the fact that you didn't tells me you were being safe.
To this point it seems that you are doing everything to become a real professional which is more than most do. I met lots of guys that took up driving because they just wanted to be unsupervised and wanted to try and get away with as much as they could. Those are the guys that complain, brag and screw up until they are fired. Hopefully before they hurt someone.
I say, keep up the good work. Don't ever start feeling like you know it all and you will be fine.

Appreciate it VBob and you're exactly right. I learn something new each day. Hell - sometime multiple times each day. I learned a great deal about safety from my trainer and each day I work to have a record like he does.
I know accidents happen - but I want no part of them. I guess I do need to check my DAC to see if this was listed on there. I hope not. -
Do Millis Hire out of FLA?
-
Baritone, sounds to me like you did the only thing you could do...hit the skids and stop ASAP. I used to ride motorcycles and know all too well about intersections...and side roads also. I would ALWAYS slow down, keep my eyes on anyone approaching and actually expecting them to run through....I do the same in my personal vehicle. I have always been a defensive driver in that regards. Maybe that's why i've never had an accident...knock on wood. You be safe out there pal.

Glad you came through the ordeal relatively unscathed, Baritone. These are stories that you will laugh about later. No one was hurt, just your pride a bit I guess - and you paid also by "woiking" real hard. You'll have other experiences too, but it's all experience under your belt. Soon you'll have a bunch of stories just all veteran truckers. -
Baritone - If they do hit your safety bonus, I would request the board to look at it. It is worth a shot and I am sure the board has been in your shoes before.
For those who don't know about Millis. If the safety director rules against you, you have the option to have a safety board review. The board consists of 5 drivers for a year term. If all the drivers agree in your favor the initial ruling is overturned.
