Well I quit Roehl due to the lack of communication from them and the inability to acquire a trainer for me to complete Evo training. Everything with Roehl is great, they are a good company to start a career with. The only problem is if you live in the North East section of the USA, you will have a hard time getting a trainer to start of complete your training. If time and money is no concern for you then go for it, if you want to learn and get into your own truck to start making money. Then look elsewhere for starters. It seems they are short on trainers and will not get them to you in a timely manor. They will tell you they have one heading out on a particular date and time so you will sit around waiting while no one calls you to let you know they are not coming.
So I had to move on as the training was just not working out. Good Luck to all who venture out with Roehl from the NorthEast for training..
No trainers available for North East

OO,Im going to Roehl after training and hope this just a hick up.
Where are you based from maybe it is not near most drivers.
I'm in Atlanta and Ellenwood terminal is close,is this going to be better?
If not were they ok with you jumping on with a trainer anywhere..Hell I'd go to him.Sitting around waiting would really suck..but I guess being around for Thanksgiving and Christmas wouldnt be so bad.
If you can give details,if under optimal cercumstances and you still had to wait well..crap..good luck to you. -
Sometimes getting with a trainer can be difficult depending on where you live. We are at the mercy of frieght where we go. The company first and foremost is in business to move frieght, training is secondary, and sometimes is does take some time to get a student picked up. To compound the problem no one wants to train, most of the older drivers are getting out of the business, because of the changes that are happening, and most of the new guys comming in have no desire to do anymore than they have to. That has caused a shortage of trainers.

Makes sense,I'd go to the trainer if need be..lol
I see threads where O/Os are training and suspect it is mainly for
the team miles.Which is perfectly fine with me..I'll run to hell and back if
you teach me how...I have it set in my mind that its going to be hurry up and wait now.. -
They paid for a rental car to get me to my first trainer and I am sure they would be willing to do that for others as well if asked. I had to drive to Gary from Durham, NC but it got the job done

So they will get you to your trainer,I'm glad to hear that majestyk..
How do you like Roehl so far?Miles good?
They have that 14/7 program but I think I'm going to just run hard for the 1st yr.Is that wise?Ok to many questions..lol -
Found your thread majestyk..I'll start reading it..It looks like a great read.

you can find my thread link to my other blog (address is located in the blog on this site) where I was able to post the last few months in regard to miles, etc. I couldn't figure out how to put a spreadsheet up here so had to put it up there. Yeah everything is going well so far, they keep me moving. Hope to be celebrating my birthday tonight with a big ### ribeye at the Gary terminal at least if the grocery store near there is open.

You'd think that somewhere in the process of deciding whether to hire a Northeasterner who needs training, they'd think "hmm, can we get a trainer up to the Northeast?"
mycorky Thanks this. -
Yeah you would think so. But as I stated in the original post here. I still think Roehl is a good company as a whole. They are just really short on trainers all around. But being told that I could end up sitting for a while would of been nice to know ahead of time.
As far as getting a rental car to meet my trainer or a trainer, that was not offered or suggested. Most of the trainers were like 4-500 miles away from me all the time. That was the problem with getting me one.
Anyone else looking to go with Roehl do so. The only other thing I say about them is that a few of the people I went to orientation with had a few trainers that were not so good. One of them didn't want to teach the student anything. All he wanted to do was have him drive so he could get his miles. If this happens to you please call your contact and complain. They will get you a new trainer as soon as they can. Having someone like that is not good to you or someone else who has to deal with that kind of stuff. Roehl just cant weed out all the useless trainers unless people make mention of it!
