Thanks for the info. Do you buy like 10lb blocks or just the small ones you see at the grocery store?

Just keep a fresh layer on the floor, when she's done she can use it for traction under the drives, duh.... Of course female drivers use kitty litter.
I carry 16 sand (because its free), chili its good to eat the it suppies fuel that you can burn when it gets cold.

I buy hard cheese that's been vacumn packed. If you can only buy cheese that's not vacumn packed then get as hard of cheese as you can and wrap it in cheesecloth soaked in vinegar then wrap in aluminum foil.

But....it's sure easy to buy vacumn packed.

I get smaller packages because then it stays sealed longer. I don't try and store grated or sliced cheese without refrigeration, just hard block cheese and boxes of velveeta. I also put it down under the bunk by the doors so it's cooler. And if you've got a heater down there don't store food by it.

The kitty litter is easy to use on ice, you can get the graveled type and it was men on this forum who recommended it to me.

just bugging you nana---i have been lucky and just about every truck i drive has a double lock up--so i dont get stuck on ice very often--the other times i just throw the chains under the tires
another good thing for winter is soup--and more soup---so good if you have a chill

I don't really keep any food in the truck, if I do other people eat it. If I think that the chance of me getting stuck somewhere is good I won't go because I don't have to. Not For Hire company, they are not going to fire me, I'll just bring up the safety issue. Other than that I might keep one bottle of Mountain Dew, one stick of beef jerky, some chips, and some of those Grandma's Cookies in the peanut butter flavor. You know the standard non healthy food.

I did once have a cooler loaded with all kinds of food when I ran to Alaska. If I go somewhere hot, like Death Valley I carry one 24 pack of bottle water in a cooler and I'll go throught that in one day. Those are the two exceptions.
