When I was with my trainer it was...left mirror. . .forward. . .right mirror. . .forward. . .left mirror. . .
Scanning the mirrors should become a natural part of driving like breathing while sitting in the seat. I heard ¨watch your mirrors¨...¨watch your mirrors¨... a hundred times from my trainer while driving. He was ex-Military and a hard ###, I can´t say I liked him but he did put that in me. It probably has saved me from at least one accident.
So many new drivers can quote the pre trip forwards, backwards, then in alphabetical order, etc. I wonder if they´re having the critical fundamentals instilled in them like scanning mirrors or if they´re just not valuing the importance.
You say you were driving down the road at night so headlights must have been on yet you didn´t notice a car coming up beside you?
You said you and the trainer would slip seat while the truck was rolling. The first thing I need to do getting in a truck someone else has been driving is adjust the mirrors. I also specifically remember me and my trainer adjusting right side mirrors for each other after every driver change. Did you and your trainer adjust the mirrors after driver change?

celticwolf and kdryan Thank this. -
I described the accident the way you did told him everything checked out on logs and you were not issued a ticket or anything. He then went through about 4 citations you would have been written Wreckless Endangerment Failure to maintain control Wreckless Driving .. Speeding Driving faster than the elements permitted.. All of which are MAJOR violations. He then said in the state of Texas you would be charged with Vehicular homicide.. He did say your license would not be suspended in the state of Texas but it would be revoked, as it would in most states.
Vehicular homicide: in most states in the United States, is a crime. In general, it involves death that results from the negligent operation of a vehicle, or more so a result from driving while committing an unlawful act that does not amount to a felony. In the Model Penal Code there is no separate category of vehicular homicide, and vehicular homicides that involve negligence. Both are included in the overall category of negligent homicide.[1][2] It can be compared to the offense of dangerous driving causing death in other countries.
So yeah good story but not true..BTW.. all accidents are accidents it doesn't take away your responsibility to obey the laws.Everett, Injun, Rerun8963 and 1 other person Thank this. -
>>>>My statement to the police matched the actions of the truck as they reconstructed the chain of events
Of which you admitted you were at fault yet no tickets or charges?...I think these guys calling BS are closer to the truth...WHY you would want to make that claim escapes me, unless you have psychological problems... -
¨Oh hi, do -this- to back your truck. Oh, by the way did I mention I rolled a truck and killed my trainer? But I didn´t like him much anyways. Oh well, good luck out there.¨
Like you said, WHY??
Maybe he did roll a truck and kill his trainer. It does happen. I can´t believe that happened, he was charged with nothing though and is currently driving.
Maybe he didn´t crash at all but his trainer did torment him. So he creates a story to scare all trainers collectively that their students are going to wreck and kill them.
It´s also possible he was throwing back a 12 pack and invented this whole thing just to get a rise out of everybody and laugh his ### off.
And finally, maybe the name of his trainer was Big Joe and the name of the rig was Phantom 309...
Phantom -

Maybe his trainer turned in a bad report and got him booted and this is the "laces out" fantasy he's been perpetuating since...
-
I can't believe you guys listen to all that crap on the CB that people spew, then actually act like there is a chance this is true....
OMG, I haven't heard 'Phantom 309' for decades! Gratefully, I had forgotten it existed. Now I have to stab ball point pens in my ears. Thanks! -
