It's not that they discriminate against fat people. It's that they are fallowing the new rule preposed in the CSR 2010 medical requirements. Under the new rules being preposed is your BMI cannot be over 38%. Eventually that will be law under D.O.T. medical requirments. So I would advise your friend to contact Richard Simmons if she wants to keep her driving career.

 

I'm not the tattletale type... But you should know that you possibly/probably have sleep apnea... You stop breathing and gasp for air...

I noticed it quite a few times during your training.

My current trainee too... Not saying you both are tip top physical shape but you both would be passed over based on the BMI criteria given your height and build. Basically you guys aren't heavy set.

 

Right, so what does that say about the criteria? For that matter, I'm none too sure sleep apnea is even a big enough problem to deserve federal recognition in the regulations. Without doing the research, my guess is someone making boatloads of money off this has a very powerful lobbying voice at FMCSA.
My point, originally, was that people find excuses for their behavior. A point sharpened by almost every single response to my post.

 

We all have our vices, emton. Mine is just more visible than yours, hence it's easier to judge and criticize. Or maybe you really don't have any vices... bad habits... behaviors that need adjustment. If that's the case, I guess I should humble myself in your presence.

Its impossible to have 0% body fat. Most professional athletes are around 6-16 %.

 

You are correct.

It makes me laugh every time someone claims to have 0% body fat.

 

Either your wrong, or the Truckers News is wrong.

In the last issue they stated that BMI would not be a medical requirment nor would driver points be transfered from one company to another. They listed these 2 as myths about C 2010 rules.

 

Trucker's News is right. This whole dust up is simply fear of CSA 2010. So relax. Under CSA 2010 anybody has the right to be the lard butted, chain smoking, stanky azzed, toothless, sweat pants wearing , fecal stained mutant that they want to be.
