Truck Parking

I would never pay $15 per visit to the gym but maybe if you're the only truck stop that has a nice gym going and that's where I landed.

I would stay in the $5 dollar a visit area, just have to get the drivers aware of it and wanting to get moving .

I think if you were going to do a fitness room you would have to keep it very small, like maybe a treadmill, an elliptical or two, and one or two of those cable weight machines, and maybe a handful of free weights. Exercise equipment is expensive and I don't think you would have enough drivers using it to pay it off in a reasonable amount of time.

Sure, there are some that would - but probably 95% of them would not, seeing as how they aren't even willing to park in the back of the lot and walk up to the store.

Like another poster said, if you're going to try and have a nice place, it needs to be well staffed, stuff needs to be cleaned and maintained. I hate going into a shower room and finding the shower head is screwed up and doesn't spray right, the towel hooks are torn off the wall, the sink doesn't drain, etc.

 

good luck with your idea, building this in the western part of the state, unless it's in GJ, Fruita or Mack will never happen. The other areas don't want new truck areas. Parachute is doing it's damndest to push trucks out, the same with Rifle, Silt, and Glenwood. The new facility at Debeque is limited to the size it currently has, the county and town won't let it go any larger.

On the east, well, unless your hitting the small towns between Denver and Limon, you won't do it within the Denver metro area. Denver West T/A will finally expand next year, but only because of the highway Dept. rebuilding the ramps at Ward Road. Denver East T/A is prohibited from expanding any further by both Denver and Commerce City. Flying J is hemmed in and can't do anything, same with Pilot and Sapp Bros. There have been plans to be build a new facility on I-70 at the 301 but that is on indefinet hold. Byers, Bennett, Strasburg don't want it, that leaves the po-dunks to the east.

 

Back in the day there were numerous work out places. Problem is nobody uses them! It's kind of like broccoli on the buffet! If you were to do it though maybe pay for it with your points card like a shower.

 

Hum if i had the bankroll, i would like make it like a mega mall,with everything from a- z, now the funnys are over, a nice solid payment lot, half and half and 3/4 quaters dirt too, the hazmat loads are parked on speacial dirt lot withere own little fire station thats manned at all times with speacial teams,with there own water tower and water pits, the other dirt is for drivers like me too park on becuse its cooler too, now about a 1/4 mile away is the main hub,or truckstop, i love that long walk , good heathly excerize, course being raised on a farm and had too get cows , thats a short walk for me,too the travel center,okay now were inside the hub or travel center, off too left is a mini wall-mart , more geared too the truckers, like 12 volt blankets and stuff like that they a got a whole section like that,along with super cheap food, nice,im just using wall mart as a cheap example, off too the right is the chapel, with a again a minster on duty 24-7 , then we go up a little futher there be a weight room , then a little futher is the wash room or laudromat with 56 machines and 123 dryers, plenty hot too burn your hands too, no days of half wash clothes and dryers that are cold, these are state of the art with dryers with that wrinkle remover, after all we guy truckdrivers gotta look sharp,then under all this vast space in the basment is the truckers playpen, miles of chrome any kind of cb you could want, any kind off acc for your truck, now we go back upstairs too third level, there would like a big room 3/4 of the plaza size, these would sleeping rooms, ultra quite and not tv , no nothen just a bed, just too get away from the noise and bustle of your truck,now on the othe other side be a libary, with free wi-fi for your lap top, after all we truckers like too keep up with news in chicago let say, for example , pickup up the paper ,there it is, or go too the map wall and up above be a big lighted map of usa, with the legends in super big print,that way we can see the weather and our route in front of us as a big picture, now as we go back down ,to main level we smell the fresh food, and only fresh food will do, no frozen stuff here off the box truck, all these food is bought and grown right nearby, with the best cheifs doing it,too put on the fresh food buffet that gets dumped out every 2 hours and giving too the homeless shelter if any left over, or if in hurry you can drive up in your 18 wheeler and be ready too go , thru the driveup,,there be no phones or any thing like that on table, just your sugers en salt anmd pepper, next as we leave ,with our belly full we can chose too go too movie room with the state of art chairs , the ones that vib and move with the movie or we can go into the tv room ,number 1 and wacth a football game, if you smoke you have too go too room 2 ,same as movie room, now we get beeped , we then go too the telephone room with at lest 45 working pay phones, we chose the non smoking room,. over the smoking room, then we have too go the transflow room and transflow something , we taken this away from the fuel desk and made a seperate room for this, now we have too get cleanup , you can chose dfrom 126 showers all pipng hot water as there no endless supply of it, or you can chose a bathtub , if you need too soak after a hard run , or you can go too pool and do laps and then jump in the 23 hot tuds with bubbles if you want too, then off to massage room too get pamerd, course all this would on a osis type setting , would be out in the middel of nowere as in a dessert as too a illiuison, neet sales picth , there the gimic ,so theres a few i would think might be some ideas Everett.

 

I would love a gym at a t/s...at least a good treadmill
