I know very little about the new electric Cats. I am pretty familar with the mechanical ones. My personal truck is a 2003 Kenworth W900L 475 C-15 6NZ Cat 18 speed it is a very nice truck, but it is only the 1650TQ model not 1850TQ. I was wanting to do some things to it to up the power I was thinking about going with a Pittsburgh Power performace muffler and a FASS fuel set up. Are these products a good addition to this motor? Our other Cat is a 2006 Peterbilt 379 EXTHD 475 C-15 Accert I believe it is a MXS but not for sure. This truck eats up acctutators alot and I dont know why, it also eats up fan clutches but I think horton's new clutches are not what they used to be. This truck has 1850TQ and the 6NZ will blow by it in the hills but I notice yall saying that a set up Accert is better than the 6NZ. Thanks for any help.
A couple of questions about our CAT's

The PP muffler is just a rebranded Donaldson unit with a higher price tag. I don't have the part number handy, but someone should be through with it anytime. The FASS is great for extra filtration and consistent pulling power all day long (I never seen any real gain in MPG from it).
As for the ACERT...you never really asked any question about it. With the mods listed in the other threads you can get this motor to breath fire while getting the same if not better MPG than most engines on the road. The actuators have been issues in some motors and it may go back to the mechanic or just plain junk parts to begin with. The Horton clutch issue is also very common, but there should be a recall or retrofit for this. -
You can get your engine flashed to about 625hp/2050tq. Several people do it on ebay or you can hit up our very own Mr. Haney on here

Free flowing mufflers are a good idea on any truck. PP may not be the best for the money. NAPA also has a good muffler called the mega flow.
I have the FASS on my mxs cat. It is on a swith in the dash sometimes I flip it off accidently. When its off the motor feels a little bit lazy Thats about the only differance it makes. I have heard it can extend the life of the injectors.
Now about the PDI tune thats another story. One thing about truck drives its hard to find more than 3 to agree on anything. I have yet to see 1 driver on here say anything bad about the stage 1 tune or talk bad about Mr. Haney!!!!! There are several on here that have it. I have the stage 1 tune on my 06 W9 mxs cat its the best money I've spent on the truck. You tune up the mxs and leave the 6nxz stock. The 6nz wont even be able to sniff out the trail of the mxs. The differance between before and after is amazing. The power is better the mpg are better and it is so much smoother. -
The part number is 100463. Everyone stocks the 465's and will tell you they are the same. They are not. The 463 out flows the 465 by about 500cfm, I think it's like 2750 vs 3250. what I don't know is if you really need 3250 or if 2750 is enough. The 465 at 2750 is way more than number 3, what ever it was... I put 2 465's on my 379 Pete but with a single a 463 is a must I think. The W9 has a totally different muffler. I've seen posts about building one somewhere in here. I remember it's nothing more than 2 bent pipes welded together...???
Good info on the FASS. I run a high flow filter head and usually run a Fleetguard FS1023. My fuel pressure goes up 4 - 5 pounds when I go somewhere for a PM that only has the FS1212. just thought that's kinda interesting. -
Where does one get the high flow filter head?
-
Does anyone know the Donaldson part # for the new PP muffler that they sell that supposedly gets better flow and has a louder sound than the original one (M100463)?
-
I ordered mine from my local Pete dealer, nothing special about that muffler except they flow well. -
