Ok so I wrote awhile back that I got hired by a smaller company, about 25 trucks.

They had me sign a bunch of papers regarding rules and training pay.

So let me break it down.

TRIP 1) Camas, to chico CA, American Canyon, Camas.
Owner says to me and the other newbie. You, get in that truck, You, get in the other truck and follow that trainer.

We ran from camas to chico and stoped in american canyon.

Trip 2, Same trainer, I followed him back from american canyon Ca and he quits, tells me to make a run to Bend Oregon and Baker city by my self.

Trip 3, owner puts me in a truck with a guy who has be drive most of the way, drives some him self than I drive the next way back to the yard.

Trip 4, Dispatcher puts me in the truck with a 2-3 pack a day smoker even though I've told them I HATE smoking and am alergic to it.

Trip 5, Dispatcher puts me driving teams with the other newbie.
Truck breaks down day 2, we wait at excide in Vernon CA for a day to unload, deliver a few other places than end of week she has us meet up with another driver running out of hours and tells me to help him get back to the yard.

Trip 6, on way back to the yard from trip 5 she asks me how many hours I drove, Well I added the drive + on duty not driving hours up and told her 50-60. She then asks the guy I was helping get back home to go look in my log book. he tells her 45 so she has me set to go out Sunday at 7 am for a 3 day run.

Trip 6 cont. I drive from camas sunday morning to hwy 80 near frisco and run into scales. get warning for being 30 min over , ( explained I was looking for a place to park) he then tells me I got only 6 days to drive for tomorrow.

Im pretty much past my new Ill do anything you ask phase. The scale master told me my company was red flagged and that I should get out because he has seen newb drivers run themselves into the ground trying to please the first company they work for.

    SO NOW to my question.

Does training pay = actualy training with a trainer? This company seems to be milking the training pay ordeal by sending me off with other newbies, solo runs etc.

I am awaiting a phone call from the WA labor board regarding this but I am seeking any advice. Also on the flip side I may be getting a job at covenant with my uncle who has driven truck for over 30 years. We can team and I can learn more from him.

    When you have a record,

things are going to be extra tough !!

I think you realized that already.............

But you still MUST obey the rules/laws !!!!!

Good Luck driver, you'll make it !!!

They will be harder for that company if I can somehow be paid regular wage for the work I did. What I'm going thru has nothing to do with my record. I'm sure plenty of non record drivers have been taken advantage of.

The last guy to quit the company took the registration, proof of insurance etc books out of 3 of the trucks before he left.

Ok so according to the labor board in WA the truck company I work for owes me approx 300 dollars.. I just need to file a claim and bam I will be on the road to recovering my stolen wages.

On another thought I plan to quit that company very soon, I am going to start at a major carrier here around the mid of november. I can't wait to drive WORKING trucks with a majopr carrier not red flagged by the DOT in CA< WA< OR< WY< UT and Idaho

No offense at all! but how did you get in with them in the first place? Even if it was a #### carrier, you've now left a carrier while still wet behind the ears so you pretty much *have* to stay with the next one for a solid year.... so be sure that's what you wanna do! safersys.org -- check it out! If you see a carrier with an unsatisfactory safety rating, don't go there! I'm assuming that must be what they are referring to when saying that carrier is red-flagged.

Sorry your experience sucked, but trucking sucks sometimes. My first driving job was about that ###### but my MVR was terrible, so I didn't have an option to go somewhere else. I served a couple years with them and bolted once the MVR was cleaner.... not saying you should hang in there with them and definitely don't like how early you got turned out to run alone, but that's life with a small carrier in a way. Only 25 drivers? Yeah they cover each other like that at times. Truck broke down? Not that unusual. Are they milking you? I dunno, but they're obviously scrambling to cover loads. Profit margins are thin out there, esp for the little guy!

Welcome to the trucking industry. :)
