Found out about the National Guard tuition assistance. It fully paid for the school.

More briefings today, then we went down and applied for our twic cards, after that i took my "driving test" on the simulator. That was honestly the most useless "test" i have ever taken. no depth perception and no steering wheel or pedal feedback. but i passed it so oh well, lol. other than that the day was pretty good and i look forward to hopefully meeting my trainer tomorrow.
Everett Thanks this. -
I noticed that you mentioned a passport. Is this something necessary for truck driving within the U.S? I am a permanent resident here, but a Canadian citizen, so I cannot get a U.S passport.
-
We can be dispatched on a load to Canada... so if you want to get back into the US, you need a passport.

Thanks..Apparently, because I am a permanent resident, I cannot get a U.S passport..but on trips back from Canada from visiting family..the U.S border patrol told me my green card would be sufficient.
-
That would be "we" as in us citizens need a passport to get back into our own country these days. Somethin' wrong about that!

Ok, just don't lease a truck, pretty please, thru their O/O program. You'll probably never be able to pay it off. They'll make sure of that.
-
CRE is not unique on the per diem. It is more a less an industry standard to short you pay when you get per diem. CRE at least let's you opt out.

Honestly, I have heard both good and bad about leasing. Don't get me wrong, im going to run for at least a year as a company driver before I even consider a lease. And even then i wont even think about it unless i have $10,000 minimum saved up and my car and bike loan paid off.
