Well, if it is within reach in my vehicle, I feel much safer than if it were locked up at home. Certainly no glovebox is theft proof,I had a pistol stolen from my pick-up years ago, but I was not wrong to have it there. It is called stealing, and is against the law. I usually have the gun out when I am in a bad area, which is almost daily. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.:smt068

i have never been in an area where i definately needed one--and god knows i have been in some pretty nasty spots and having a gun might have gotten me into more trouble than not--but so far i have been pretty lucky--you are right tho better safe than sorry
but then again i dont want to get caught in the cross fire when some guy is pissed off at work and decides to to take everybody out with him
for me there is no right or wrong--your kind of screwed if you do--and screwed if you dont---and specially screwed if you try to break in my house cause you will be introduced to mr browning/sawed off -
Personal protection and self preservation is as basic as food and water.
For those who don't believe this........may God be with you and watch over you.
For those who do.....the 2nd Amendment is your right.
Thank the forward thinking legislators for enacting Castle Law.
It's better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6.
Remember that you seldom need a firearm until you need one very badly.halfburn and shantyshaker12 Thank this. -
I have a friend who works over at Heartland that was almost mugged at knife-point recently near the yard in San Francisco. Luckily for him, the police were in the area. Why aren't we allowed by federal law to carry a weapon? Some things just don't make sense.

Well, what about this thought.
You are at work, this pissed off guy starts shooting. I would like to know I could possibly retrieve my weapon quickly from my glovebox, and perhaps save a few innocent lives. I have LEO training from years ago.
I just always try to have a weapon close 'just in case'. Most of the time that weapon is a gun. Might just be a stick, you never know when trouble will show up. :smt072 -
Thats the way I see it. Your vehicle and as long as the gun is locked up out of sight then its all good.

I don't think this is about carrying it at work, but instead about just having it in your car. Not really what you said, but I wanted to make sure I am making my point clear.
There are legitimate reasons for having a gun in your car. It's all about what you are doing before you go to work, and what you are doing after. Perhaps you must travel to an area after work where you need the gun for protection. Or maybe you went to the gun range in the morning before you went to work. Of course, all these assume you can properly secure the weapon in your vehicle while unattended.
I have on several occasions had my gun in my car while I was at work, on days where I went to the range that morning. Some of those jobs had policies about having the gun on their property, some did not.
However, the trick to doing this was to NEVER let anyone know that I had the gun in my vehicle, and as far as I am concerned anyone who lets others know they have a gun in their unattended vehicle is being irresponsible. If the company doesn't know you are violating policy, then it is never an issue.
