Hopefully the winds are done. Glad none of our dry boxes got pushed over.

It was a good day in Dubuque. The Hawks laid the wood to Sparty. Beautiful weather. Got outside today and took down a couple old trees at the back of my lot. Made a pot roast & had dinner with my parents. Took my daughter trick or treating. Hope is going well for anyone reading this. Be safe out there.

I had to get away from that guy. He felt he had me pegged and it just wasn't worth the time it took to respond.

We should have lost the Indiana game...all the guy had to do was catch the ball.

Tell me more about your good week. Lots of miles or are you on percentage? You are a van driver right? Our biggest customer is going full bore, which has made it a good year for us. I don't have a lot of faith in the economy right now. I think the recession took a lot of capacity out of the market that hasn't come back yet. This will be great if the demand for our services comes back. I don't feel that demand is strong just yet. I am definitely not complaining after 09...it should end up a great year for us.

I pay my drivers 25% of the load and ya we pull dry van mostly out of ADM in cedar rapids and 3PL warehousing. We pull some power only reefer out of iowa city too. I averaged around 1.70 this week on all miles ran my drivers kept my fuel cost down and not that many miles but ill run less miles for more money any day. I definately agree with your statement on the economy. I personally think its going to get worse yet. And ya Indiana lost the game for themselves the hawkeyes got lucky.
And that guy in that thread is something else. When my trucks break down I dont look for the company we pull for to bail me out, its part of owning your own trucks

How many trucks do you run? 1.70/mi isn't bad at all for van work, assuming you can get a decent volume of miles. I prefer shorthaul work because we can keep the $/mi up. However, when we have a good week with the long haul trucks, the total revenue goes up pretty fast.

cpape, are you talking about the one driver in another post about Greatwide I believe it was?

This is just my honest thinking but I believe he's not a good bussiness owner.

I have over the years asked my company for help, but never more than the ld. paying me at the time.
Yes they have worked with me, But I do not ask on a regular basis.
Last week spent over 1300 in work and parts, but never asked them for help.

I believe he needs to find new work.
By the way, it's cold and windy here in Dulth. HaHa
