New York Judge rules 6-year-old can be sued

Well sure. And after a long drawn out trial, the family can be payed in lolipops. bout 10 of them should cover it. That's a fortune for a 4 year old.

 

The parents are always responsible for the damages done by a child. But this is a first.

 

You gotta draw the line somewhere, though. Taking revenge on a baby is pretty mean. And where does this money come from? I doubt the parents are rich enough to fork over whatever ridiculous sum the courts decide on. Then what, the taxpayers have to support that family too? Or just let the kids starve? One of the comments on the article wanted to throw the kid in an insane asylum.

 

if I am not mistaken the local government will 'pay' the amount rewarded (a whole separate process the filers will undoubtedly go through which the costs to do will be likely tacked on to the restitution deemed owed) and then bill the 'responsible' parties for the rest of their natural lives. sad.. and sounds about so very par for NYS.

 

Yeah, this is pretty stupid, IMO. They are four years old. It sounds as if it was an accident, nothing more. Why even think of suing??? Freakin' stupid. Waste of time, money etc... when the Courts should be dealing with real issues.

I'm surprised that a lawyer would even bother to take this case,awards are based on future earning potential of the deceased ,which at 87 ,is zero.No big payouts here,maybe a pain and suffering award to the husband or family of the pedestrian,but that won't be much either cause what's the life expectancy of an 87 year old? These new yorkers sound like real winners.

 

This lawsuit crap is getting out of hand its the first thing everyone thinks of anytime something happens dollar signs and lawsuits, even for simple accidents. Shameful.

 

Readin news like this causes me mental distress. I'm suing AlGore for a quadrillion dollars.
