To suggest a globalized market to offer compact little EU trucks of any fashion to compete with a big Pete or KW for the American infra-structure is downright offensive----- :smt066

We got more than enough high-tech EU rigs over here already----- Volvo & Freightliner are bad enough-----
But your state of the art EU on-highway trucks look just like our yard mules-----

Junk yard truck made of end of life semi:biggrin_25523: They cut a half of frame, removed one axe and... mul tows trailers form parking to workshop!

But sometimes I see short versions of long range trucks, like this columbia
    [IMG]

There are workshops in Ukraine and Russia, they convert US semis to BDF 20' container haulers.

You'll be surprized, International Russia make 9800I, 7600 semitrucktor! And they offer Euro-IV and Euro-III calibrated engines, so they sell ISM and ISX w/o EGR!

what about rear axle on that columbia is that 3rd axle from that tractor or other axle i mean this axle from american 6x4 are to weak for single drive

and did you mean 20ft container or bdf (7150-7450-7820?)

btw is there a problem with legal weight on that colubia on rear axle if i am correctly it is 10.5t in UA and RUS

EU trailers weight distribution is different. 66% to trailer axes and 33% to fifth wheel. yeah, more traction problems on wet road, but first trailer axe is the lift axe and used for traction help.

about conversion... they put subframe and we can use BDF ore haul 20' coontainer. This system works with full air suspention ECAS only! I did ECAS retrofiting on many US trucks. Unfortunatly it is difficult to find used 12V ecas components here and I have to add voltage doubler (12-24V) and small batteries. Anyway ECAS is really good and reliable system. Saves shocks, stabilize bars and avoid roll over accidents. Trucks runs better, less ait consumption.

About budget of conversion to ECAS.

Well, 6x4 rear air suspention with Wabco 25pin unit:
$100 for used ECAS controll unit
    $20-50 for ECAS remote controll
    $70*3=$210 for new height sensors
$100-150 for used but good valve unit ore $50 for bad and $50 for remanufacting
$100 for air lines and fittings
    $200 for installation and programming.

May be not so cheap, but... belive me it is a good deal!

    king Q Thanks this.

i ask about overloading that drive axle 5th wheel is near drive axle not as on coe ....

same problem is also on conventional trucks in Hungary they have 10t +500kg tolerationor by special approval 11t+500kg

edit i mean weak as capacity tandem us axles are usually rated at 62-63t so 1isnt enough for 38t ......so does they put other stronger axle or just 3rd axle from us truck?

    and what about frame
length for 20ft/bdf from cab to rear of chassis for C7450 is necessary at least 6850mm (if truck dont have more frame than twist lock )how they made this ( i mean extension it is thin chassis)
