Anyone having trouble with cruise control? Hubbies works but at times after stopping for a break he starts out only to find cruise control wont kick in. He pulls off an exit, shuts everything down, starts up again an it works. Lately he has had to stop several times before it kicks in. It is an older Freightliner.

Try putting your foot under the clutch pedal and lifting the pedal ...then engage the cruise. If this works then you probably have a return spring or something that needs fixed or adjusted. Does the engine brake work when the cruise is out?

i had the same thing on shakers---if my memory works--cycle the cruise on and off switch----i think that is what i had to do after stopping

All my Shakers had this problem (14 in 2 years). Here's what worked for me.
As I hit the off ramp, turn OFF the CC (not just disengage). Park, do my thing (potty break, unload, whatever). When you get on the freeway, turn it on, get up to speed, re-engage.
This worked on all but one rig. That one had a bad on/off switch.
Oh and the 14/2years? The DM and Shop liked to have me shake-down rigs to find the problems....LOL.Wyldfyur Thanks this. -
Oky thanky very much everyone. Hubby is going to try all of these suggestions an see if they fix the problem. He doesnt really mind not having it, except in states that are 55mph or 60mph, like a long time when he hasta run that for whatever reason.
Really appreciate the quick response an help
Thanks!!! -
Just make sure you turn off the CC before you shutdown the rig.
