Corrected... Seems one must press the reset button after an update. :biggrin_2556:

Sometimes it gets hung when you disconnect it without dismounting the drive from the computer first.

    Thanks,

    Mark,

I just tried to update and got a message about TND dock updates being suspended for some units. What's going on, and any idea when updates will resume for affected users?

They finally figured out that pushing out a 2.5gb update and letting it install to the units while it was downloading it was a bad idea. I told them it was going to be a problem months ago but they know more about it than I do, obviously. So now with a whole bunch of units the update screwed up and a lot of annoyed customers, they're trying to figure out how every game manufacturer has been doing it for years.

Meanwhile Garmin is trying to figure out why their advice for setting up IE to allow my 465t to update isn't working on my version of Firefox. :biggrin_25526:

No one thinks anything about it when they do file sharing of large files. They know that they should wait till they are home or on a high speed connection.

The download had quite a few notices about it being a large file, yet dial up, dropped internet connections, downloading while driving were a few of the tries when users tried to download.

Large file downloading goes on daily on the internet.

So I could have predicted that the Sun will burn out... does this make me anymore in favor with future generations? Nope.

If anyone downloading had thought about the connection they had at the time and asked themselves would it be better to wait till they get home, if the majority has said yes, then the download would have gone smoothly.

Rand knows you are on the road a lot and tried to give you the ease of getting the download while you are on the road. For some it just did not work out.

Rand does have options in place to keep you up todate with the latest version and map update. E-mailing me, calling Rand Support are just a few.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I download large files when on the road just fine, even with an iffy connection. I know they put the warnings out and are trying to provide alternate ways to get it. I'm just saying, again, that there are ways to manage large file downloads like that to make sure there's no data lost, no matter how terrible the connection is. You can't put it the whole thing out in one huge chunk and have it writing directly to the device. That will cause problems even on a high speed connection. Those drop connection too. It's much less often but it does happen.

You forwarded it to them when I warned them about it the first time and they said no, remember? I got another question I'll post over on the support side.

I got back yesterday from my orientation in Alabama. I used my TND500 on the way down from Arkansas in truck mode and I must say that I am impressed with the unit. It seems to do everything as advertised.

The warnings, which are user defined, are a great tool just as the map overlay when in a large city with many lanes. Knowing where you need to be a mile before a turn or veer is nice. Putting the green interstate sign on the screen at the same time is an added bonus.

I liked the POI filter and the logs. All of these and other features make this a really good gps unit for truckers. I was very surprised at how easy it is to set-up and operate and also update. Thanks RM for a great product.

Well, I was woring for WTI in Tuscaloosa but we are having a paperwork issue with the VA right now which is keeping me from working. I am hoping to get it resolved soon so I can get in my truck and go to work.
