I thought they were backed by the much bigger Swift Meats?

If so, they have the cash to handle this no problem

As reported in November,05,2010 Denver Post buisness section.
JBS Carriers, of Greeley,CO. , ordered by DOT to install EOBR's on all of it's 700 trucks,by March,2011, or face a fine of 81,780 dollars. The company and DOT have a settlement agreement that cites JBS with 102 counts of 'driver's hours of service violations records', and three counts of allowing drivers with suspended, revoked or cancelled commercial driver's license to operate a motor vehicle.

More fuel for the fire for MADD,PATT, Citizens', ATA, Teamsters,to get the 8 hour driving,12 hour parked rule instated. These people are just plain foolish! Poke the bear and it will bite you hard. See the PDF file.

I agree with you, my comment wasn't meaning that I thought you actually thought they were competent.

Same here, I've never done an illegal drug once, not ever. Even now that I don't drive a big rig I can still pass any and all whiz quizes that some one might wish to throw at me.

I thought that JBS bought out Swift meat several years ago. At least the Greeley plant.

I was parked next to a JBS truck at the Loves in Sioux Falls, SD the other day, and on his drivers door was a sticker that said "Electronic logs by Qualcomm". So either they got to installing them really quick, or they already had some trucks with them when this news broke.

Well, if JBS just pays the fine...and DOT let's that go as ok, then it's still BIG BROTHER in bed with the big companies. I know of a trainer at JBS that had a sit down with a Veep at the company, and aired out a lot of problems. JBS was slapped down by FTC for trying to effectively buy up as much of the meat packing industry in the good ole' U.S. . Anti-competitive
actions on their part brought the scrutiny. Yet a little company that my brother in law is driving for is under the gun from Missouri and Feds for things like one tail light out, driver out of service for putting down wrong state after city on the log, and continuous harrassment at every scale. Yes this will get worse, because Big Brother, PATT,MADD,Teamsters, Citizens and others get the say. Drivers don't and won't. Fair Labor laws written by Congress and passed are against you as the driver to get paid overtime or protections against unscrupulous employers and shippers/receivers/brokers/etc. 168 hours a week as an over the road driver and as long as the rig you drive is not in the terminal lot, with you off duty and no where near the rig or job. What does that mean to you as an hourly rate? You, no matter how you think of it, are responsible for the rig and the load 168 hours a week, whether in the sleeper, in the seat, or "off duty", "on duty not driving". Its not equitable nor ever will be. You say you are working only 70 hours a week? Think again about how much time you are away from family and home, and the 'off duty' status,as you are tethered like a dog to the rig, is like being in the military, wow, gee, the boss let me have a couple off days off after 5 weeks on the road. Yet I salute every one of you who are out there, bringing it to America. When was the last time you saw a railroad car backed up to a Target or a Walmart?:biggrin_25514: I figured out a quote from the forums for a CRST driver, who said he was taking home 50.00 dollars a week. At 50 divided by 168, that equals 29 cents an hour as a trainee.....:biggrin_2555:
