    My best year was $56K at 24% but since I been with Hirschbach I average around $41K at .37
    I got a new truck 1/4/09. It has 207,000 on it. Go figure!
    This LOA might be a blessing in disguise. :)

    As reported on my W-2, SS wages:
    '09 $49,686
    '08 $52,488
    '07 $58,600
    So far for 2010 I've grossed $45,700, depending on the rest of the year I'll between $50,000 and $51,000.

    I'm paid a split of hourly and percentage.

    I'm a local/regional driver so I'm home nightly, or at most gone 1 or 2 nights month.

    First Year out I was a O/O leased to a company, since I owned the truck out right I made close to 260,000 but thats also because I was running team miles and not having to pay the student anything the company I was with covers them......( yes I became a trainer after 30-days you know who )

    As a Company driver, where i'm at now, I made 58,000 in the first year. and that 10 months and I only took 4 days off every 6-8 weeks

    if you are living in or close to California this is a good company to check out they pay .37 pm right off that fresh out of school.

    well have a good one guys

    Mine has went up and down over the years...
    I was making 36 per mile back in the mid 90's.
    Now most places will never start you out at that even with years of experience..At least in my area...

    It's not a job to where you're going to walk into a great paying job. Just like most others you have to work up to the better jobs. In the beginning you'll gain all kinds of knowledge and that includes who and who not to work for. You can set your goals high and work for them but always remember your record is what tells the story. I started at 12½ ¢ a mile on up to $23.50 an hour. But I would have never got there if I had tickets and/or a bad image.

    When you look around for your first job take everything in. Look at the benefits along with the pay. Look at your investment for retirement because most places you can transfer that. Ask the drivers how many miles are they getting. And ask more than one so you;ll have a better idea. Make yourself a list of what you want out of a job. Then take your offers and weed through your list. It's no cake walk in the beginning and it does get better unless you mess up.

    Crosby Trucking has a terminal in Charlotte. You'll start at .36 dryvan loaded or empty, .38 curtainside (mostly the O/O's do those), and .41 reefer.

    Charlotte, Columbia, Atlanta, *some* chattanooga loads, Va, Evansville IN, Sidney Ohio, Chicago area, a little bit up into Wisconsin, and a LOT of Northeast (PA, NJ, NY, Boston every week, , MD, CT.... did I mention NJ?)

    You will not be running legal there, trust me on that. Not just a little logbook massaging, a LOT of logbook massaging. Good luck getting any sleep when they are busy. They do not care about your fatigue. They are fighting a lawsuit right now because of it (driver killed four kids last year - fatigue). Kentucky has a bone for Crosby and you'll definitely be pulled in if you go through there during the day.

    Other than that, have at em!

    well i ignore huge amounts recruiters and schools say you will make. i look at it this way, my last job was in customer care for a phone company. i made 50k a year. i know me as a 47 year old will not make that kind of money again easy. I looked at jobs that I think I can do and only trucking will allow me to keep my home. which i will see i guess 4 days every month or 2. My brother who was homeless will stay here. other then that i would probably try to sell it. to keep house going i need to clear 1800 a month.

    i have been unemployed since december but health issues and sister dying slowed everything down. my blood sugar test should be in the normal range in december.
    losing my job ultimately was best thing that could happen. Had some things going on in my body that could have hurt me bad down the road. i never planned on being on unemployment as long as i have for a year i have wanted to do trucking.
    one thing i will miss is good health insurance.

    I'm not from the states and we are told by the experts the global recession had little effect on us here in South Africa.I disagree .These are approx numbers for my small trucking concern.As you can see 2009 was a disaster.We only survived because of a bumper 2008. What makes it worse is that the lower the gross generally the lower the margin because you are cutting rates to try up your volumes. In 2009 it was a case of trying to minimize losses.Cant afford another year like 2009.

    2010= 4,3 + some zeros
    2009= 1,3 + some zeros
    2008=10,9 + some zeros
    2007= 3,6 + some zeros
    2006= 2,49 + some zeros
    2005= 1,74 + some zeros
    2004= 1,09 +some zeros
