Are you the same truck driver looking for sleep apnea help on the American Sleep Apnea Association Forums?
If yes I sent you a PM there... have several sources for help.
If no... send me a PM here and we can go from there.
112racing.... changing your own CPAP pressures is a VERY bad idea. If you want to learn more about the details check out the message board forums at the ASAA forums.
For general diabetes help Debbie Latham is a registered diabetic educator and dietician who specializes in working with over the road truck drivers.
You can google diabetic trucker and it should bring up her site. She is good folk and knows the issues of keeping truckers off insulin and explaining things in simple language.

The leading cause of blindness in people older than 60 is a disease called "Age Related Macular Degeneration". There is no cure to date, but exhaustive research has shown that the supplements "Lutein & billberry" can be of great help in avoiding this disease. I strongly reccomend that anyone who drives for a living looks into this. Research has also shown that prolonged exposure to sunlight can exacerbate this condition, and drivers certainly fall into this catagory. The old addage "an ounce of prevention" is very true here. There are many vision supplements out there, but most only have 2-4 mg of Lutein. I order online and get the 40mg Lutein and take it twice a day. My vision has improved from 20/40 corrected to 20/30 since I was diagnosed with this disease and started this regimen. You can go online and print out what is called an "Amsler Grid" to see if you have the preliminay stages of this disease. I strongly reccomend it.
krash13ss Thanks this. -

you cannot function without taking the diabetes/nutrition class which is held at most hospitals in the country. a diabetic driver on a 34 hour brake must have it to remain qualified phsically
i purchased a paper back book at walmart for $5.97 called diabetes
revention, control, and cure.it is very informative. looking up any topic in the index you can check up on your health care provider. i have found dietary info that contrdicts my arnp a few times
that nordic track in front of the tv is great but i still eat 2 much of the right food -
Thanks slim. I'll check it out. I learned the say no to white food which is hard to do but I'm slowly figuring it out. So far I made the move to whole wheat, more beans and greens. The diabetic diet doesn't look pleasing, but I'm adapting.
The Nordic Track sounds like a good idea too.
I been having back problems for about 3 years now. I went to the doctors today. My xray shows a compressed disc and narrowing of the spine. I'm going for an MRI next Monday. The doc seems to think I have spinal stenosis. It rains it pours. -
Only if you believe it has to be.. I am a self trained Chef. I eat healthy and all the food I cook taste good. My BG levels stay with-in normal limits.
Told you I'd help you.. You just need to want the help..
Slim1 there isn't a cure for Diabetes and anyone telling you there is you should avoid at all costs..
Key to control is finding a good Endocrinologist and a good Diabetes Educator. -
Celticwolf
thank you for saying that as I am a nurse and work with several CDE-certified diabetic eductors- they know their stuff and really can be helpful. Nurse's have more time than anyone to spend time to educate and set REALISTIC goals with you!!
Condo
I hope your back is okay. Do they have any idea why (you are pretty YOUNG) to have spinal stenosis??? -
The only thing that brings my bg back to decent level is glipizide with glucophage.Normally I take 1000mg of glucophage daily and take 10mg of glipizide daily as needed till it comes down where it should be.I have had it since 94 after bad accident.I didn't take it real serious till I developed neuropathy to go with it.They have tried me on different meds including avandia but these 2 are the ones that work for me plus they both fall under wmarts 4 dollar plan.
-
In case anyone wonders glucophage is metformin..
krash it is interesting they have you max'd out on Glipizide, but not the Metformin. Most endos will tell you it should be the other way around. In fact my Endo tells me to only take my Glipizide when my BG levels get too high.
