I am still thinking of it man, Yea I find myself in these situations , because I want to believe what companys say especially about safety, and I want to believe they want to hear the truth, I want to believe people do to. I have tried to answer the questions about it truthfully as I can. I am going on an local interview in 2 hours , I will be thinking of texting while driving, and every other safety rule I have heard in my 40 some years of working. ( I have worked for my father starting at 10 years old.)
I am glad you feel TMC is that way, because I still hope to hear from them. And I hope they are serious about everything. And if I do not measure to them, I would not be surprised, I am totally new to trucking, flatbed, all of it. I truly hope TMC has the best training program with no holes in it and has a plan for training recent grads, who obviously need more of everything. I would love to not notice any of what I have mentioned. Your words are recieved , yes we bring on to us what we need or want, I want to work and have benefits for my family, I want it to be a win win situation, I am glad to be walked away, or walk away from any situation that would not be win win. I dont think maverick was hard on me at all. I have said very good training , some of it has changed my outlook, and I wish I could have also seen the load securement training. I also said I could not shake from my mind what I saw, and still can not. I may not have accepted the job anyway, If I get local work it may not matter, but I want to believe everything TMC has on their site, I want them to be able to take an honest, truthful, hardworking, experienced worker, and train me to be a high functioning safe driver that makes money for them almost all the time.
I'll be back in a few hours probably, depending on the interview, But I will want him to be happy with me as a prospect or send me home. I do not wish to work somewhere where they do not have confidence me, what they think I may say, or do, or if they do not have a training program they have confidence in.
Yes I found my self in many of these same situations working at Cat in Quality Dept. Thought I was fired many times over, never was, in almost 18 years, always told the truth and stood my ground, solved many problems, and was unable to get many solved as well. won some, lost many. The way it is.
Thanks Hoosier I will be glad to try at TMC unless hired today, fair enough?

No tarps- yea I would like to agree with that thought, problem is the reason they dont? Pops in my head that they do not want them to have a simple honest slip up or event that makes them have to fail them. Otherwise why would a company not make sure someone can pass the test?
I like the TMC guy saying all take the test, no doubt in his mind, says something for TMC . Id probably fail there, I am new, but Id love to try and see what they got.
Id do my best and tell the truth. Thanks Notarps and everyone
Still trying to measure up, -
Back, thanks to everyone, and I will continue to post as time permits, I will be glad to help any drivers wanting to go with maverick and gladly tell them the good and not so good freely. Without emotion or attachment , facts and observations, based on just a few days. And prior research. Still a very good company despite the bizarre chain of events that can not be ignored or discarded.
My local interview went very well, I have been fingerprinted yet again, and should fill out some more paperwork tomorrow. Technically its part time with no benefits, but it is very good pay. I am in if they will have me. Its also not far from the house so I can keep my old ford pickup , yahoo, the investigation, 3rd now FBI I guess ever how long that will take.
Oh yea still not heard again from TMC yet for what its worth.
Very optimistic about this local job though. More later -
Really!!! You really expect all of us to believe this garbage. Look, you hit a sign while taking the road test, so you failed!! Period!!Point Blank!! You screwed up and they sent you home!! Go to TMC, hit a sign on your road test there. You will be on the bus back home from Iowa too. That is the way it is suppose to be. I just don't see why grown men can not take responsibility for their actions. It is always the companies fault.
Then because they sent you home, they must be happy about it and that must be their goal. You are dead wrong. It cost them too much money to bring you all the way to Little Rock, give you a physical and drug screen, lodge you, feed you and then just find a reason to send you home. Oh wait I forgot, they also paid you for the time you was there and gave you a bus ticket home. You should go read some of the comments from other companies. I am talking about the companies that charge you for all of the stuff listed above even after you been sent home. How about the companies that tell you to get off of their property and you have to find your own way home. Maverick is not in the business of bringing drivers to orientation to send them home. Do people get sent home? Yes. Does it happen at every other trucking company? Yes.
You see I worked for Maverick for 3 years. I resigned my position there to take a job closer to home. I will tell you and anyone listening. No trucking company is more concerned about Safety than Maverick. Everything they do is about Safety. They care about everyone on the road and they want everyone to make it home safe. They are strict, but that is why they are the best. I would recommend Maverick to anyone and everyone.
I love my new job, but if I lived closer to Little Rock, I would go back to Maverick in a second. -

Well boys and girls, What i said stands, and I actually have been hired locally, and trust me , you would not believe that chain of events either, but suffice it to say its running mail for a local contractor, Its been a blast being trained for the last few days, it will be very good money and I will get to sleep in my bed once , sometimes twice each day. I will be glad to discuss the great points about Maverick and my concerns with their shortcomings with any one who is considering them, so they can make a balanced decision.
Really? yes Really HAHA Sooner and HOOSIER, yea they spent money, because guys, and Gals, like Drivers you may know, or know of, many lie others lie and cheat, and take drugs. I do not , never have so I could care less about every trucking company has to pay for drugs screens,. I have had 4 in last 3 months, guess what no issues, never took any drugs. Never failed any drug or alcohol tests, Yes Maverick cares about safety , and thats why I emailed Chris and informed him of all of this.
And yea I am happy because like I said a better situation will come to me, and guess what it has. Safety does not continue to improve if you hide your head in the sand about shortcomings. Maverick has many examples of accidents involving Maverick trucks, and new safety VAlues because of them, I sincerely hope one never happens about the texting, cause if it does , my conscious is clear. and Maverick had a legit chance to avoid it hopefully. end of story.
Hope you can return to Maverick someday, Hope they have some new emphasis on NOT TEXTING WHILE DRIVING, Let me know if you go back through their training. Let me leave you with this, If Mav is the best if you and others are the cream of the crop, all that Chris or any other Maverick Trainer or Management personell has to do is ask the people who were involved, the Maverick people right? Not me , you dont believe me , perhaps Mav Management wont either, What if they just ask those involved that were there. You tell me what do you think they would say? You dont have to reply, its a soul searching question though, cause I bet you know they would not admit it out loud , just to try to save jobs or reputation , which is proof of what I have said. Good Luck with your futures. -
One driver doing something he should not does not define a whole company and he should have been reported. Your use of this one situation as an excuse for your failure of the road test is what I can't believe. You have no right what so ever in giving advice to people concerning Maverick as you were not there long enough to make an informed
observation. Sure have no idea why a person would need to go to bed twice a day.Ops85, GoalieDon, dollylama and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hoosier is right. One driver doing something should not and does not define a company and who are you to give advice about Maverick. You was in Little Rock what 3 days maybe. You still refuse to take a responsibility for failing the road test. I would put a years worth of paychecks on the fact that after you told Chris and the management about the incident, they went directly to the source and did their own investigation. They do not sit by and just let things be. If there are allegations, they will check in to it. They are not in the business of saving someone's job or reputation as you put it. By the way, maybe I missed it or something, but I am wondering one thing. When did you tell Chris about the Texting incident? Was that before you or after they sent you home? Like you said before maybe everyone is better off this way.

Never said I wanted an excuse, I said I failed and said I failed many times,
Said It was for the best and why, I have been very fair to Maverick, talk about the good as well. Well off to work again, Good luck to all of you . will honestly answer questions as time permits. Good luck boys got some mail to deliver, got to learn another route today...... -
I was going to tell him later, cause I wanted to confront the trainer face to face first, but that would have been securement training and I never got the chance, was sent before I got a chance to start securement Plus it would have been even more awkward, I did not want a bargaining chip,, Tell you what leave me your email and Ill give you my phone number and tell you more if you want otherwise I never intended to put it all here, but I was simply stating my concerns then responding to those in disbelief or denial. Got to go to work
