So far, it's worked out a whole lot better than letting someone else tell me how to life, when and how to work.
You know, there used to be a time in this country, when working hard and doing things your own way got some respect.
But with the "dumbing down" of Americans, and all this "the government will keep you safe" BS, no one respects independence anymore.
With so many people holding the government's hand, those of us that still don't need that hand, is looked upon as an outlaw.
I've never trusted anything the government has told me. Why start now? cause their statistics show they're right? Because people like having an excuse for only running 3,000 miles a week (or less).
This industry is going to heck in a hand basket with all the "little brothers" taking up for "big brother".

Your amusing! You hardly ever answer a question, instead all you have to say is the Gov this, that, blah, blah. No you won't get "respect" from me for running illegal because I could care less. Note~ I hardly ever run 3,000 miles a week because I don't need that many miles. So your comment about it is............. amusing. Your bragging about how you run, then questioning why Landstar won't lease you on. Then ducking the reasons why.KittyKat501 and WitchDR Thank this.

At least he is not WHINING about how it was in OLD SCHOOL days.
-
But in his 10 years, he knows all about "old school".
In my 8, I have no idea. But I know much has changed in my short time out here. I can't fathom exactly what it was like 20, 30, or 40 years ago. I do as much listening as I can. You can't learn anything by running your mouth... -
I know what it was like that many years ago, because I listen to those who were running back them. That's how I know they wouldn't stand for what's going on now, if we had an ounce of backbaone left in this industry
I'm not going to listen to a bunch of people who are "OK" with just getting by. Getting by, as my old man always said, is getting "passed by".
And yes I talk about the government alot, because every regulation, every law & every tax we have in this industry was created by the government... -
Many a driver has Cursed the Qualcomm, Got one in my truck 24/7 spying on every thing from overspeed, hard brakes, idletime, and of course location and time stamping. Log Violations are becoming easier to track with the help of Technology. But even if you do not have QC, the DOT still has the right to request Cell Phone records, copies of BOLs from Shippers and Recievers, Fuels Stops, etc.. all it takes is one accident with injuries to open up an investigation and the Lawyers will destroy a drivers testimony in a heartbeat with log violations.
The ones who should be held accountable are the Fat Cats smoking cigars and counting all the money you and me have made for them. LOL....... -
Thats true. but without the qual coms, the DOT has to actually work for their audit. They'd actually have to spend some money to catch you. With the qual com located in your truck and recorded at your terminal, all they have to do is ask for the records. And then anything and everything they need, is provided.
Without it, there has to be a reason to look. With it, just a request.
Everyone is scared of the big bad DOT audit. Why? Cause everyone else is too. And since everyone else is scared of them, it empowers them. It gives them the sense of control.
If the DOT had to get a subpoena for ever piece of information they needed to complete an audit, there would be alot less audits. And the ones that got audited, would probably be ones with more than acceptable amount accidences.
Bend over because they say so......I'm not going to do it. Id rather die than live on my knees. -
Sounds like Hardman needs a better paying gig, so he won't be forced to be a SuperTrucker on roads we all use. Workin' smarter beats workin' harder every time.
-
I'm not going to get into this debate but people's idea of workin harder have different meanings for different people. For example you might think drivin 500 miles a day is a solid day and that you worked hard. I drive a thousand a day and feel like I accomplished something too and worked hard. Does that mean I worked harder than you? not neccessarily, just an example.

I'm glad to see there's still a few truck drivers around here.
