I saw something like this earlier... a .12 hike in diesel prices to pay for infrastructure. This is where OOIDA and the like REALLY need to get involved.
-
Strange place to find bipartisanship over, raising taxes in a down economy, whodathunk.....
-
Then we could raise all their salaries !!!!!
-
didn't you know they made that automatic now, too much uproar from us sheep eveytime they tried to pass a pay raise for them selves, so they did made it automatic.
-
They ARE really involved (in supporting it)!

Now i know that roads are not cheap, but seriously - when you raise $28 billion just from the federal end of the stick, you can't tell me they don't have enough to maintain the existing infrastructure. Again, the problem isn't that there isn't enough money - it is that the government spends more than it has to work with and has long deferred maintenance on what it has created. On top of that, the Federal government doesn't do anything for the highways. They only collect the money to dole out to the states meaning more of the money goes down the bureaucratic hole to pay salaries of regulators and their minions before the states even see a smidgen of that money.
Remember - every fuel tax increase in the past two decades have been had funds siphoned off for "deficit reduction" (under Clinton and Bush). Now let me ask you: do you all really think the deficit has been reduced by this fleecing? It isn't going to reduce anything as long as these boneheads keep spending money they don't have. -
It's easy when it's not your money and you can tap a virtually bottomless pit of sleeping sheeple...

Unbelivable!

That's why I try and stay away from these political threads. Really gets my blood boiling. Idiots....every darn one of 'em.
All they do is point fingers and say "Republicans are to blame for this" "Democrats are to blame for that". It's like junior high school all over again. Grow the hell up and do what you're elected to do. Get stuff done!! -
We need a 50% tax on political contributions, a 50% tax on political advertising, and a 75% tax on politicians that are unable to balance a budget.
grizzly, rookietrucker, Gears and 2 others Thank this.
