I have been an owner operator in the entertainment industry for the last 15 years. It's OK I guess. Freight pays a whole lot better. There are lulls in the touring seasons. This may cause you to sit for sometimes WEEKS. So, you need to manage your money well.
Stage Call from Apache Jct Az. Production Transport from Santa Fe Springs Ca. Upstaging from Mundelein Il. Are all good places to start. They usually don't even take applications until about late Feb. Most tours don't even start until the late spring/early summer. You are fed. You get some swag (t shirts, hats, etc.) depends on what tour. Most of the industry is getting real cheap. Cd sales are flat because music is so readily available on the net. Acts need to tour to make money. Then the bean counters start sniffing out any way to save a buck or two, And it usually always comes out of the drivers pay.
ALL companies do a pretty extensive background check and have very strict experience requirements. Oh. and don't expect to get home very often. This is DEFINATELY NOT a job for a family man. Good luck to all who try. If you are a whiner al all. One season will be your last. All companies weed out problem children at the end of tour season. This is truly a DUES PAYING type of business. You get back what you put in

Another good outfit similar to that is CBS sports. My wife and I had an interview for the company one time. The hours are long though! Also, unless you are truly dying the truck must roll-on. Rain, sleet, snow, flu, closed roads etc... you gotta keep going! Another perk was that you spend most of your nights in extremely nice hotels! Something to think about.

I work with a guy that use to do the CBS monday night football gig. He operated the cameras and then drove from point A to B. He said it paid good, but you are only working for 6 months.

Company drivers start at about $110 per day. I've heard companies like Xtreme trans. start drivers at $85 per. That's slave money. You can make that at Mc Donalds. It's a lifestyle. Not a place to get rich
