I looked in to Heavy Metal Truck Training last week. I found nothing to steer me from them so I contacted them. They sent me applications for Roehl, TMC, Werner, Swift and H.O Wolding for pre-hire. I was at a seminar with TMC at the school yesterday and handed in my applications. I received an offer from Werner and Roehl today.
I have a fairly open mind and look at the negatives and positives of companies. I did a lot of reading on here and decided against Werner for now. I am more interested in TMC and hopefully I get a positive response from them. I am going to do some more research on Roehl now.
If things go as planned, I will start at the school in the next two weeks then get on the road by January after orientation and OTR training if it all goes well.
Got two pre-hire offers today - looking good so far

I'm in school right now with HMTT in pine city, MN. Its a good school and i have learned a lot. Do you have your CDL permit already?
-
Not yet. I have some studying to do and will take it as an elective.
I'll be going to go the new school in Inver Grove Heights. -
Just remember pre-hires means nothing.
walleye Thanks this. -
It more or less means they are interested and I passed the initial checklist on the applications. Realistically, I still have to pass the tests, physical exams, etc. Also while there may be openings now, there may not be when I get out of school as other students that graduated and passed the company testing may have taken those open positions. At least that is my take on the fine print. I need to have some faith I will be working when it is all said and done.
-
Your take is wrong. There will always be openings. Every week when orientation starts.

If you have a clean background including MVR and criminal, can pass a drug test and DOT health exam, you're half way home. If you have some skeletons in your closet and don't include them on your applications, they will be discovered, so be accurate and honest from the get-go and you'll eliminate many of the headaches guys talk about.
Good luck to you... keep the faith! -
Passed the CDL permit today and passed the DOT physical too. First time I ever had a med card. Of course it's the first time I ever went for a CDL as well. I plan on picking up the air brake and combination endorsements too. Later on this week I will go for the hazmat and tanker.
I did basic company checks and Roehl is way ahead of Werner and CR England in safety and it seems overall a good company. More than likely I will go with Roehl because of the better reviews on here. -
Hey congratulations!
It's good you're getting those endorsements. Never know when they'll come in handy. Don't strictly rely on the reviews here, make sure you do your own research and then make your decision. -
i would get them all. I passed double/triples, and tanker my 1st time, i had to go back the next day for hazmat. Go get fingerprinted and background check done also. $89.25 Fill out this info here https://hazprints.tsa.dhs.gov/Public/ then the finger printing place is here, bring 2 forms of ID.
