What do you mean - he takes Advil PM on a daily basis?

 

No, it's not banned. But Advil has shown up on drug test for marijuana. The usual response from pot smokers is... I just took Advil, I don't know why I failed.

How did that discussion get into a prehire decision? Those questions are never asked.

A quality lab should be able to distinguish between THC and the ibuprofen in Advil...Advil should not disqualify any driver for a job-if it does, get another lab test done on the split specimen, which is your legal right and get it done by a quality lab.

 

Yeah the Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer confirms a negative/positive and is never wrong. It's the 1st cheapy test they do that messes up. I had a short stint working in a chemical plant lab and they taught me how to use the GC among other test. Every known substance burns at different temperature for a different time. The GC graphs that. Kind of like a fingerprint of chemicals.

 

This is why they don't like any of the "PM" drugs.

 

He probably has arthritis setting in. I know the feeling. He's best to keep quiet about that and stay off the medicine until he gets the job.
