power steering filter--i would only change when changing the oil--same as differential filter--it is not like an engine which produces soot and carbon which needs to be trapped as well--diffs and steering will only produce metal filings wich the filter can always easily trap
maintenance

agree, but my pref is once a year for coolant, ps filter, diffs
-
nothing wrong with changing once a year--its your truck
i have also seen diff filters never changed and starting to rust out and leak---or when they used to have the cover over them--once in awhile a tiny rock would get in there and where a hole thru the filter
i dont think anything got hurt from over servicing --but lots has from neglect -
Excellent wintertime advice,right there...
Even as a company driver, i still carried spare fuel filters in winter. And dont forget the wrench to change them with. As Kansas said, beats sitting side of the road. If you own the truck, even more important.
I carry to much crap with me,but beats calling road service. I keep spare belts also. They dont take much room and sooner or later you will be changing them, hopefully only as preventive maintenance... -
You mention Donaldson filters and I found a company in AZ online that ships and sells Donaldson at great prices. Check out Filter Products in Tucson. 520-889-5781. They have a website that I can't remember at the moment. I've had great luck with them!
