I just wanted to say thank you to all those who answered my questions and gave me advice. I will be boarding my bus to Dallas this evening and I am looking forward to getting my CDL and getting my foot in the door. I will try to update as often as possible but my main goal is to study hard and pass both the written and driving test with flying colors. Y'all take care & good luck!

While on my way to Stevens School in Dallas today, there were 6 guys on the bus going to CR Englands school in Dallas. there were 5 of us going to Stevens and 1 going to CRST I think. 2 of the guys coming to Stevens had just left CRE. ! had made it through the school and had his CDL, but he said they were screwing him around on getting a solo truck and he refused to lease or drive team. The other guy was at the school he says for 1 week and left. I dont know his reasoning as I didnt get aq chance to ask.

Hi all, sorry it took so long to get on here. I left my iPhone charger at home and it took me a while to round one up.

I rode a Greyhound 28 hours and it sucked. I don't want to leave Dallas on a bus.

The motel is what it is. A place to sleep, shower and go back to school every day. The school is small but for the most part the instructors are very knowledgable and friendly. I started Thanksgiving week so we processed in on Monday the 22nd. Then went to DPS on Tuesday and took the written tests. I passed the Texas Special Requirements, General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Combonations & Pre-Trip on my first try. Got my permit but was in the classroom until Friday. Straightline backing & parallel parking practice all weekend and then we hit the road for basic shifting & basic turning on Monday. Today was more of the same just a little more of it.

As of today, my instructor wants me to test on Thursday or Friday. I am still having trouble with 6th gear going up and a little trouble getting downshifting down pat. I have improved a lot but I'm just not where I want to be yet.

    A few tidbits...

    1) If you don't pass written or driving test - they will pay for your ticket home if you pay your $50 administration fee.

    2) Also if you don't make it - you don't owe them a dime.

    3) Lots & lots of students with very few teachers. Unless you are struggling you won't get much individual attention.

    4) I have not been told officially but I have heard that company solo does not exist regardless of what my recruiter said. The only solo is if you lease and you probably won't get enough miles running solo lease to make money. Now I am not stating this as fact but I have heard it. All in all the company prefers leasing teams and at worst company teams.
