Well. hmmmm Thank you. I've never heard the term "straight drive".

First off, it's not a stupid question at all. I personally think it shows concern and thought.

I would have to disagree with lil may (even though I think she's just wonderful and love to read her posts). I don't find driving a semi like driving a car. But we all have have our own views, so mine could be in the minority. It's not easy for all of us to learn but it is doable.

I've driven a standard transmission for over 40 years. It's what I learned on and it's what I've owned in several vehicles as well as owning automatics. But even with that, I found learning the number of gears and the double clutching to be a bit of a challenge.

What I'd suggest is if you have a friend, family member or co-worker who owns a standard, then ask them if they'd teach you to drive a standard. That way you might feel a little more comfortable.

Can you drive a semi? I think so. I worried, I was scared, I didn't think I could but I learned and while I'm certainly not perfect nor do I have decades of experience, I am a very good driver. So says my fleet manager.
