IMO governed trucks are dangerous. I often catch up with a couple of governed trucks who want to "Drag Race", holding up traffic for 5 or six miles. Many drivers, especially 4 wheelers, become very impatient and drive erratically during these times. I run out west a lot and when you are cruising at 75 and come up on a couple of 62 MPH trucks trying to pass each other it causes a cluster#### real fast. If you have a governed truck stay in the granny lane where you belong.

I have a hard time believing you don't mind being controlled, but some people are like that. I would imagine you are content with the current liberal Democrat government as well. They want to control everyone, but that's a whole nother thread.:biggrin_25513:

the 3 companies I've worked for have their trucks governed between 68 and 72,just enough to stay out of the way and get past JB or Swift on the highway...and that's fine with me.

well for one I don't use 13th under 65mph, the numbers were just for speed reference. But it never sees over 800* on the hardest pull.

Well you can take your math and shove it. Tires measure different than the numbers the MFG gives you (which is where you got your numbers). They don't factor in the tread depth. I know this because I just swapped from 24.5 to LP 24.5 and had to reset the speedo. If you use the real measurement the speedo is off by at least 5mph. I know because I had to reprogram it 3 times because I kept going by what the tire actually measures. I don't care what your calculator tells you, my speedometer is within 1mph of every speed radar I've passed and is right with 3 gps systems. Like most things in life, there's a difference between textbook and real world, welcome to the real world!:biggrin_25525:

Yup, trucks can do triple digit just fine if allowed to, although it would suck down fuel quicker then your town drunk. Utah has 80 and 85(I think) speed zones. Its not uncommon to have trucks pass cars out on that stretch, but they don't normally make a habit of it due to fuel economy. They just do it to say they did it or can do it and dont cruise at those speeds. Thats a pretty rare event. Normally a company driver that isnt paying for the fuel himself at some rare company that does not have the trucks governed. (Although before the prices went through the roof for fuel, it was VERY common for bull haulers in Nebraska to be doing 80-90 cruising across)
