Conditionally hired provided I pass their physical which I did. Their safety department is reviewing my paperwork. I think the delay is being caused by two things: a snowstorm that hit the area on Wednesday (which was the day following my physical), and the Thanksgiving weekend.

We'll see what happens on Monday.

I have an HP Mini 210 1076NR. 10" display; 250GB hard drive; 1.6 GB ram, with a 3G internal modem for internet access. The unit retails for around $299, but if you shop around you might pick one up for less.

I looked at the Toys R Us website. They do sell netbooks but I don't see this model listed.

If they are selling one of these for $79, let me know, because I'll definitely buy a second one at that price. :biggrin_255:

That is the main reason I was getting upset with the WIA dragging their feet. Now, just like you said, there's a chance I'll be on the road at Christmas.

    I guess I'll find out soon enough. :biggrin_25511: I don't think I've ever missed a Christmas.

Well after having just read all 23 pages of the thread thus far I must first say, Congratulations Wedge!!!! You have made great progress so far in a short period of time.

I am currently trying to get this process started. I'm waiting to hear back from a company about a tutition assistance program and see if I get pre-hired as well as studying for my permit test.

I look forward to hearing what company you end up working for and wish you all the best no matter where that is!

Hi Katey and Thanks! :biggrin_25514: I'm pleased to make your aquaintance.

While your waiting to hear word, keep moving forward and get your permit. Putting in the effort ahead of time, will make your training classes much easier.

I'm not certain what program your working with for tuition assistance, but your training school (assuming it's a private school) should be able to assist you with the pre-hires.

Let us know how you're making out.

The program I am hoping to do is through a company (Con-Way TL) because my boyfriend currently drives for them and we want to team there so wether I get pre-hired or not will affect where I go from here. I should be hearing back within the next few days though I believe. I will let you all know when I find out something :)

    Take care!

That bites Wedge but you know that chances are that you will miss more holidays the more you drive and depending on who and what you do. As I said to Chris (cuz as a nurse I missed my share of holidays over the years!) it's not the specific day that you celebrate it is WHO you are with that makes the day special. We have moved all the major holidays to the weekend before or after (4 nurses in the family!!) And yes it suxs to work on a holiday.......

BTW I saw your pic!!!:biggrin_25514: Nice to ''meet'' you!!!!

    Wedge Thanks this.
