You didn't give it enough time, nothing better than a few emergency puke jobs after lunch to get the adrenaline rush and the heart pumping lol!All those crying /screaming kids after blood gets spilled(fistfight) works good for me too.

Truck drivers do their own janitorial work. Well, not all but some.

Had my own residential cleaning business for almost 14 years and kept most of my clients the whole time till the end. Although I HATED that job and was ashamed of doing it, I could make a little more money than I am making now driving for a mega carrier. I really enjoyed being self-employed then, and take vacations any time to go see my family abroad.
But now I am proud of doing what I do and love living on the road :biggrin_25519:

but there should NEVER be any shame doing doing a days (or nights) worth of "honest work", as compared to all the high ranking congressmen, senators, lawyers, doctors, insurance companies and so on and so forth that are so corrupt, they cannot look at themselves in the mirror each day when they shave, not to mention the "dirt on thier hands" will NEVER truly wash off.

heck, being a shiot-shoveler at the beach is MORE respectable than any above mentioned "high ranking" jobs......

Amen to that brother.I used to be embarrassed too, when meeting new people, I didn't want to tell them that I was a janitor,so I would say I worked for the Maintenance department(somehow that sounded better). Now I tell them I'm a custodian and lots of times they ask me if there are any openings, because they or someone they know needs a job. When my district last advertised openings for custodians, they got hundreds of applicants for one position. They no longer put it in the classifieds, just pick one of our on call substitutes to fill the spot.We have guys that have kept their name active on that substitute list for 3-4 years, hoping to get their foot in the door,as school janitor is now a much sought after job.As a sub you make $11.60 per hour, with no benies;when you get appointed the pay doubles to 21.60 plus benies. All 3 of my sons have their names on that sub list and would love to get appointed anywhere in the district. They keep telling me to retire, so they can get my job,but at 56, I'm not old enough for SS.I might go at 62 if they havn't privatized our jobs by then(they have been threatening it since I started 33 years ago)Between the pension and SS I would be taking home more money than if I were working.I would just have to pay into dental ($90 per month) but the medical, BCBS is covered for life once you have 25 years in the system.
...A lot of people(teachers, fireman, police, even school superintendents) in NJ are retiring early because they are afraid our new governor Christy, will take away what they have spent their entire lifetime working for,if they wait to long.New Jersey's pension system is in trouble because for years, the state put nothing into it,even though they were required to by law, and in fact used it as their personal piggy bank whenever they needed money. You can't borrow from Peter to pay Paul and never pay Peter back;that's what NJ has been doing for years and now our new Governor Chris Christy is demonizing the teachers, saying that this crisis is some how their fault and we are in trouble because NJEA is greedy.

One of my first jobs was Custodian(or Maintenance). I worked the night shift in a shopping mall. It was kind of cool to have that whole building all to myself. Easy work to. Mostly running up and down with floor cleaners, detailing the food court, and of course the bathroom.

For the bathroom since it was after hours I'd hook up the hose to the buildings hot water system and blast the toilets and stalls.

I had a lot of time to spare but hey it was quiet and I could read or patrol the mall. I'd even take the security bicycle for a spin through there.

The downside was the minimum wage pay but this was just after High School.
