Good afternoon everyone !
My name is Geoffrey, I'm 18 and I live in Lille the 4th city in France. I registered on this forum because I would like to be truck driver in the North America.
Why? Because it always was my dream and I'll do everything to realise it. If someone could help me to find a good truck driving school in Canada and if I can apply for student visa. It would be really fantastic.
And I would like some informations about every papers I need to immigrate. Do I need a high school diploma or not? What are the requirements to be truck driver ...?
Have a nice day. Thanks
I need your help Canadian truckers :)

The majority of insurance companies won't insure anyone under 25 years old. To drive transport in Ontario Canada, you would need an "A" license, and a "Z" endorsement for air brake equipped trucks. A physical from a doctor for Ministry Of Transportation requirements.
You can go to the Government Of Canada website, to find out how to immigrate.
Try starting here-- http://canada.gc.ca/home.html

I already saw the website but I didn't found something which speak about truck driver. But I don't lose hope
! I will succeed
. Thank you OntarioGuy for your help. I still open of any other informations.
Bye -
Don't forget, it may be harder to immigrate as an unskilled worker. Many countries want skilled labour to immigrate. Truck drivers are listed as unskilled labour. It may make it more difficult. I know there is quite a bit of hiring by some of the big companies out of the UK. That is because the government is giving the company a kickback for every driver they bring over and keep here for a certain amount of time.
At only 18 you will need to wait a few years in order to be able to drive tractor trailers over here. -
There is a training school in Ontario called Transport safety and compliance.
I am pretty sure they have "signing authority" (they can give you your license).
Jim Ferris is a decent guy, contact him. Ask him some questions. He may be able to help you. They can help you with job placement as well once you have your license.

Good luck. -
Thank you for your help guys. Even if it's hard I will try
. I saw that I was able to get student visa but for truck school I don't know if it works.
I'll contact the guy you told me Trade up.
Thank you again ! -
I didn't think any school in Ontario had signing authority. It is all contracted to the Drivetest centres. At least that was my understanding.
I went to Transport Training Centres, they had a very good program with good trainers. -
contrary to what people think there is more to Canada than Ontario, come to Nova Scotia and learn how to drive on the highway not just in the ditch

I already saw this school and it interests me so I think I'll do every test they want to follow their training. Money is not a problem and I think I could have financial help once in Canada, it's just to immigrate which is the most difficult... But thank you again Flying Finn and Chain Drive and If you have more informations for me I take
.
Ps :Sorry for all my language's mistakes. -
Here is the site specific to immigration to Canada from France, Belgium, and Switzerland.

FYI: Skilled Labour class for Commercial Drivers is #7382. Although we are NOT listed on the 2010 list of needed skilled occupations for Immigration. The applications start being checked July 1st. Best to get an application in before then and hope to get in. Not being on the list of desired occupations will make it more difficult but not impossible.Last edited: Dec 1, 2010
