I live a hour drive from Millington. Is the Swift a good company to work for? How is the training at Millington? When did you goto the Millington Training Academy? Thank you for any answers.

I have been doing my fair share of research on this forum for a few months now but this is my first post so I would like to say hello to all. I just finished Millington and my road training ended this week. Im glad I get to spend thanksgiving with my family before I head to orientation. Anyway, it has been a great experience thus far. Millington really puts you to work at least if you dont have any prior experience or knowledge in the trucking industry. IMO, Swift training is very thorough and the instructors are both very knowledgeable and kind. I learned so much in just these few short weeks and I know that I havent even began to learn all there is out there. Im up for the challenge and I would like to thank all those on this forum as you all have helped me in one way or another. If anyone has any questions about Swift training i would be happy to answer them as I am fresh out of training

I just completed the academy at San Antonio. I can say the training was fast and was above average. The instructors where great and each one of them had their own funny personalities.

Just got back from orientation in Lancaster Texas and waiting for a trainer to pick me up after Thanksgiving. Looking forward to working for Swift.

Went to get my permit and the examiner wanted to see my long form. told him I was told on the phone i didn't need it for the permit, just had to have it to get the actual lisence. He rolled his eyes and said why do they say that. They will give you a restricted intrastate permit without, but you have to have the physical to get unrestricted interstate.

I just finished orientation with Swift in Fontana CA.

They require you to have a valid medical card, even though you will go through their doctor.

At least 1 person was sent home because hers had expired 6 months ago.

If you try to save your money, you will be very disappointed if you also waste your time going to orientation for less than a day. And in a case like that you may have to pay your own way home.

I just got the closing form for Millington yesterday from my recruiter and I just looked. It has the states listed and approximate costs and preq's for getting CDL Instruction Permit and New York is not on the list. Although neither is North Carolina and obviously grnberet31 went to Millington and that's where he's from. Possibly they do NY out of the Richmond, Va. Academy.

    oorahduece Thanks this.
