I have mixed emotions about truck stop prices. I like to complain about them but maybe that isn't fair. Afterall the parking is free. It costs alot of money to prep and pave 10 acres. Especially in such a fashion to accommodate heavy trucks. The money has to come from somewhere. So I would guess that my complaining is unfair since I don't know what a truckstop nets. In the meantime, I will continue to complain cause it's in my job description. But, I promise not to take it out on the clerks in the store.

You are not buging me at all. I guess it is all relitive to the person spending the money, we all have to do more with less, while it is true not every store has a dollar menu the point is still valid were ever we go the prices tend to be higher, like say on the NJ turnpike or any turnpike for that matter, they get you by the short and curlies because we just cant jump off and get something then jump back on. And I do go to wally world 2 times a month or so and stock up If I didnt buy so much I could load another 1000lbs in the trailer,LOL. The idea to save were we can, when I see a driver spend 30 dollars at a fast food joint I think about what I could buy at a walmart, I could eat well for a week and if I add a few dollars I could eat good for 2 weeks easy.Evil empire? they have to make money also, I dont blame them when they raise prices I am sure there is a need, but this is all, as I said relitive, to prices we pay at home.
Anyway.
Be safe your family is waiting at home for you. -
We all have something to compalin about, yes the parking is free but with the amount of fuel they sell every hour, I am sure it is paid for. Besides they own the land it is on in most cases,so no rent is paid. I dont take anything out on the workers, they are trying to earn a living just like me. And they have to deal with smart mouth, rude truckers every minute of the day. You know who you are out there. I just want to eat as heathy as I can and try to save a few bucks while I am at it.LostSoulCA Thanks this.

I've found the windshield defrost vents on most Macks to be excellent soup warmers. A pop-top can of Campbell's, on a cold night.... mmmmm.

I usually eat groceries purchased from Wal-Mart or Brookshires.
But every now and then I like to eat something cooked. Wit Denny's in Flying Js now, I have noticed that they have SOME healthy options.
They serve whole foods like wheat bread and wheat pancakes. They also have turkey bacon. Some other things as well, but it does help to have some tasty choices. -
kd5icdr where I live it cost about $10 for a single person and that's at a cheap restraunt. We have restraunts here in the Coachella Valley that charge $20 or more per person to eat at. So I'm not complaining about the price. My biggest complaint about T/S restraunt are lack of selection.

And this is one reason why RESTAURANTS/TRUCK STOPS have changed to FAST FOOD/TRAVEL PLAZAS
Remember years ago most nights you had to wait for a table in a true truck stop, of course there was no such thing as private showers then either.
