As we all know...the so called "mega bucks" is in the specialized areas of trucking,& I do NOT mean containers, reefer,or unique cargo ! O.D.,car hauling, moving,or most "specialized" for that matter are not for most because of the so called additional "headaches",stress, hard work, costs, and responsibilities, yet that is why we make so much more money than the steering wheel holders. No offense...just the way it is !

    blade Thanks this.

After the figuring of the daytime only driving and the 1000's of empty mile running. Even the elete fleet makes only pennies more than the less stressed steering wheel holders.

a container hauler not running out of the ports but out of the railroads themselves can make very good money. I've seen settlement checks for our O/O's, $4,000 and $5,000 to the truck for a weeks work when it's busy are not unheard of. But it's all in how you spend it as well.

I'm sure those container guys don't wait in those long lines just to break even. I've never pulled containers but I have done oversized, flats, dry vans and refers.
