I just bought a croc pot from wal-mart for $4, so now I have to try to find some winter items to stock in the truck that are going to work well with it. I dont have a fridge, or microwave, so I have to sort of do things on the fly...but Im sure some of you have ideas, or experiences that can help.

If you do a search you'll find a number of threads with recipes and other ideas for cooking on the truck.

Just a quick tip: canned meats

I can get stranded any time of the year anywhere in this country for a couple of weeks or longer. I always carry enough canned beans, precooked rice, fruits, water, milk, a couple of propane gas containers to use with my stove, chocolate, dried fruits, mixed nuts, vegetables, cheese, bread, granola, cookies, honey, pasta, protein shake, vitamins, etc.... (I am vegetarian so don't carry any animal product, except milk).

tis the season for good roadkill if you have a sharp knife ---- just carve off a few venison steaks and throw them on the turbo and away you go
